Please help, so scared tonight!!

Hello everyone,

So, big story short. For the past 2 days I have been wearing an event monitor. So tonight, after I recorded by itself at points I decided to call the company and ask them what it records. So they told me that it only records tachycardia, brachycardia, afib and pauses greater than 3 seconds a time.

I did not feel anything of that tonight, except the pauses. As soon as I realized that I got very scared. I searched online and they say that when that happens the only solution is a pacemaker. I am only 26 years old and I need a pacemaker?

They also told me that if the doctor had requested also something else, he could have added it in, but they cannot give me that info, trying to tell me that if it was something life threatening someone would have called me. They also advised me to call my cardio tomorrow if I want more info.

I am so scared and freaking out really bad, I can still not imagine that I might need a pacemaker at 26 years of age...

Any knowledge or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Whoa! Hold on! I honestly think that you are getting ahead of yourself here! try not to read more into this right now. wait and let the experts interpret the info! You are most likely scaring yourself to death for nothing! Chance are that you are fine and just do not understand this machine so well. at 26, it is highly unlikely that you'll need a pacemaker. Try to keep talking to yourself reasonably and get with your doctor in the morning. You're going to be fine! You'll see! :)

My anxiety about my heart is just killing me. I am trying to relax and wait for tomorrow but I am just freaking out. I am not sure if there is any connection, but I haven't eaten all day, except having a coffee and a glass of water till now...

She is right if it was life threatening then you would have been notified for sure. People have things recorded that are benign all the time and don't even know it's happening and others can feel everything their heart does (mostly anxiety ridden people like us!!) I know it's easier said then done but try and relax tonight and you can always call in the morning! I'm sending positive energy your way!!

Thank you so much!! They just scared me so much by telling me that only those things are recorded except otherwise ordered.

I am wishing for the best, hoping that I will be able to relax... I was even feeling better today, it did not record anything for a whole day and then I had 8 in 2 hours :/

take a breath, take another one! janet and melzmoda are so right. we don t have medical degrees and so can t be expected to interpret the result of hightech heart machine monitors. don t get me wrong, i have worn these before, a few times myself, so i have some idea what you are going through. i remember being anxious because there was nothing to report in a 24 hour period, so they took it off. i was convinced that something vitally important would happen as soon as it came off, and no one would know. anyway, my heart is fine, and i will be praying that yours is too. it is so difficult when we have no control over our own bodies, but please remember, God loves you and is in total control, blessings

You only drank water and coffee and coffee has caffeine in it which will only make you more jittery! And your body is not used to going without food either, so it is saying to you, "Hey! What's with this, buddy?!" Both lack of food and coffee are likely contributing to your feelings.
I've been having heart flutters and palpitations for the last week but I know it is my anxiety acting up on me, so I just shrug that part of the anxiety off! But I know that everyone is different in how they react to things. I just want you to know that yo are fine and will be fine and once you see the doctor you'll be relieved of this stress and pressure! ;)
Then "Dr. Janet" advises you eat a good healthy meal! :)

Two things jump out at me from your post...
Going online....one of the worst things you can do is start looking stuff up. The information on there is just that; information. It's not medical advice or expertise. Trust that your doctor is taking the right steps with your monitor.
Second...not eating, then drinking just coffee is enough to send your heart into overdrive. You're probably dehydrated too given that you haven't eaten or drank anything else and being dehydrated can cause palpitations and "skips". Try to eat and stay hydrated. You will be fine.

First of all I want to thank you all for your responces. I really appreciate the help!

So, after a long day trying to figure out all the symptoms and why the device is recording, I finally found a lady at the doctor's office that told me that they did not record any pauses or anything like that last night...

So, I decided to call the cardionet company frustrated and what did they tell me this time? That the monitor does not only record those 4 conditions, but any change in the heart rythm. Which means that even if it was a PVC or PAC or anything in regards to the heart, it will record it. I am not sure if that lady knows what she is talking about, but that would at least make a lot more sence to me if that's the case.

I can say that I am relieved, but also frustrated that all those days that I am calling, no one explained anything like that to me....
