can stress cause your cholesterol to elevate?

I can't tell you how upset I was to get a phone call from the dr. today saying my blood work came back and my cholesterol is so high she wants me to come in and talk about meds. :(

It has always been like 240 but my good cholesterol was always high like 60. My triglycerides are always above 200 too and once they were over 900! When I was retested they went down to 300 without any changes except I ate Cheerios for breakfast every day and I know they are not THAT helpful. I had a very stressful event that morning of the test that measured 900.

Anyway- I really eat better than the average person I think- most days I have Special K with blueberries and ski, milk, salad for lunch- just lettuces & veggies with low fat balsamic vinagerette or soup, Dinner is just normal- nothing fried or fatty usually. Maybe a splurge on the weekend. Cocktails on weekends only when I used to have one every night. I exercise 3 x per week for 30 mins and start every day with 75 jumping jacks & 50 crunches.

PLUS- since blood test last year I take a daily dose of MegaRed Krill oil.

I really thought my numbers would be DOWN!

Nope- 262. Good cholesterol down to 44! Triglycerides 277!

It's not fair!

The only thing I can say I do wrong is I worry too much and have been under a lot of pressure and have too much stress.

This really broke my spirit.

dear weary, the only thing i have any knowledge of to tell you is that once, when my cholestrol was high, my dr said not o worry, and didn t even investigate further, because i had recently been on antibiotics, amoxycillin i think it was,and she said they always give a false high. i had no further probs, so could this be your case too? i don t know what time frame it has to be, but its certainly worth asking your dr about, blessings
