Can't stop thinking the worst

Hi sweet panda. I have anxiety to . My legs to my feet tingle and burn. My hands tingle and burn. I shake and tremble inside my body. Especially in the morning. Then I tingle all over my body. I have no appetite at all. I think its anxiety of what you are feeling. How long have you had anxiety? I had it 7 or 8 years ago and now it came back worse. I take prozac and ativan and seroquel. I am all so seeing a phychiaritrist every 2 weeks. I would talk to your doctor about this to. Misty.

hi mysweetpanda - i would go ahead and tell your doctor today, but i know how doctors can be. i have some that are good and dont treat me like a crazy person, but my gp can be condescending (i only go to him now for things like a sore throat, etc. because he is convenient on short notice and close by). a few times i have left his office in tears (mosty tears of frustration not knowing whats wrong with me, or being brushed off) he now looks relieved if we get through an appointment without them.

but if i have to see him, i tell him all my concerns/symptoms just in case it is important. if i get the "look" or he brushes off my concerns, i remind myself that is bad bedside manner/doctoring - not my fault. the thing to remember about doctors is that really, you are a paying customer. its easy to be intimidated by them, but you are their customer and deserve a certain amount of respect/good service, especially when it comes to your health! i feel like this - the doctor is getting GOOD money (either your own or your insurance's) for his/her time, don't let them short-change you.

it really sounds like the tingling could be related to the weight lifting you started. even with light weights. i am not a regular exerciser except walking (and not much of that during this cold winter) and but many times when i have started to exercise, like light weights, or doing pilates or yoga at home by watching a video, I get weird feelings for a few days after. burning, tingling. weird cramps here and there. i don't know for sure, of course, but that would be a definite possibility.

WFB, Yes I did read your post last night and thank you! The symptoms that cause me concern are the tightness in my throat, although that is not always there. Also, muscle tightness and random tingling in my right forearm. My legs tingle too when I get off of the treadmill. I just started the treadmill in January and started the weights last week doing one set when I got off the treadmill, then increased this week to two reps. I'm just having a hard time not thinking the worst.

Hi Panda, I am not a physician but I would be willing to bet my life savings that the tingling in your arms and legs is a symptom of anxiety induced Hyperventilation (over breathing). I wanted to let you all know that I just came back from my stress test and passed with flying colors. Blood pressure is great too. I told them about the anxiety and they agreed...it's anxiety. At least I know that my heart is healthy and the lightheadness and numbness are anxiety related and quite possibly in part due to the weight lifting I started last week that I am not used to doing.

I want to congratulate you on the happy news, not to mention how positive you sound after hearing the good results. Yay to you!

Weight lifting will, in the big picture, should actually help assist you in the anxiety as you get even stronger. So you have that to look forward to enjoying too. And just like traditional medication, it takes the body a few weeks to adapt to exercise programs as well.

These are all very good things you're conveying. I think this deserves a Happy Dance....
