I take remeron myself and have taken it in the past as well. The first few days of starting it, you will wake up with a little foggy feeling and find it a little hard to get motivated. You also may or may not experience an appetite increase. The lower doses of Remeron/Mirtzapine are heavier with the sedation than the higher doses. I currently take 30mgs at night prior to bed. I take it about an hour before I'm ready to go to bed because it WILL knock you out. That part of the drug doesn't typically wear off. It will put you to sleep and the sleep is rather good. After about the first 4-7 days, the foggy feeling will go away and it won't be as bad. You'll wake up going, hmmm.. not so bad today. If you experience the appetite increase, if weight is a problem for you, than you might want to keep around some healthier snacks because it does have a tendency to cause weight gain. I grave ALL types of foods about an hour after I take it. But I am a scrawny dude anyways, so gaining weight is one of the couple of reasons they put me on it. The drug takes about 2 weeks to fully start working on you before you'll really notice a difference with your anxiety and depression. Don't worry about the fogginess, it is a VERY common side effect of the drug, especially on the first few days to a week of your initial dose. :) Feel free to reply here or email me if you want or need to talk about it.
