Thanks everyone for ur help!! I wake up at 5am with a nervous stomach anyone have this? Today is day 5. I have an ok day then the next day all the side effects come out.

Great sharing here in this thread.  Bananas20, remember the trick to getting onto this medication is patience and be ready to expect up and down days until the full therapeutic  dose has kicked in which may take as long as 6-8 weeks.  Meantime you should start to have good days mixed with not so good days.

StKitt, Sean and everyone else thanks for the support. I love this forum it makes me know its not just me. Is there anything you do for the nervous stomach or naseau?

Hey I still get the horrible feeling when I wake up too like bad anxiety, Crappy thing is I am at a constant state of anxiety that I even have it when I am sleeping and in my dreams which is a nightmare. Kitt is right though as we just have to wait for the tablets to reach their therapeutic levels and then it should all be okay.

I am in the same boat and so are tons of others so we are all in this with you. I think you just need to ride out the nervous stomach feeling, I think most of it comes from the fact the first thing you most likely do in the morning is wake up and check how you are feeling and straight away if you feel a bit weird then you will have the anxiety.

It will be okay I promise

Hey Sean, you are so right on target. Went to Dr today she said same thing to hang in she promises it going to get better. I just want to be my happy so lucky self!! How was your day today?

Now that everyone is mentioning it, I have that nervous stomach feeling most of the time. I hope the lexapro relieves that in time.

Thinking about starting my lexapro, I've been putting it off because I'm afraid of feeling worse than I already do. Anxiety has really been kicking my butt. Mornings are the worst for me also and it seems that at night I almost feel completely normal, is that common? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your post's.

Hey Bananas sorry I just see your post, I dont get updated of messages sometimes lol

It is so easy for doctor to tell you to ride it out and just be patient but how many of them actually know how hard it is? It is like being stuck in a well in a very awkward and painful position and then you hear that someone is coming to help you out in the next 6 weeks or so but they are not sure when lol

It gives me comfort to know I am not the only one going through this because it feels a lot of the time that I am the only one with these exact symptoms and feelings but there is millions of people out there.

We are going to get through it and no matter how much we feel like giving up, we have remember that we are going to see a brighter day and experiance pure joy once again.

Hey Pushon,

You have to be aware of the fact that any anti-depressant can make you feel worse at first but at least you will be getting help. If you try to see anti-depressants as pushing down on a big spring/coil where you have to go down a little bit so you can get that thrust to push yourself high and beat anxiety and depression once and for all.

I would say mornings are worst for me too and I think it is because the first thing you do in the morning is wake up and automatically wonder how you are feeling and lets face it, we are not quite with it when we first wake up so it is easy to think you are feeling like crap and then your anxiety will jump on it and start from there.

Go to doctors straight away as you no longer need to suffer.

That's right Sean we r NOT giving up. Did u see my other post about looking up relaxation excersise on you tube and descending stairs relaxation try it let me know what u think

Hey Bananas,

I have not looked it up yet but I think I am familiar with the concept as a few of the guided hypnotherapy cd's I have get you to visualize going down a flight of stairs and and each stair is a step down in relaxation? I will have a look at it though thank you. Hope you are okay?

Thanks for the reply and im gonna take your advice. It's just hard to get over the fact that I might end up feeling more sick than I already do. Guess I just have to be strong. I just worry that not knowing if I'm just feeling worse because of the side effects or the meds are just not agreeing with me. I guess it would just be easier if I knew that if I did feel worse, that it would end and not just keep making me feel worse. I guess thats just more of the anxiety talking. It's just hard to accept the possibility of feeling worse for a while before feeling any better (hopefully). Im sure you understand. Thanks for the reply and hope you all are feeling better these days.

Bananas20, I have only been on Lexapro for about a week and a half. The first week I was on a half pill, and now I'm up to a full 10mg. I actually feel pretty good now other than the sleep issue and the scared feeling in my stomach once in awhile.

The side effects normally wear off after about two weeks or usually sooner, I have been on them now for 12 days and I feel like I am turning a corner now with regards to side effects as today I didnt wake up with that horrible nervous/scared feeling in my stomach so hopefully the tablets will start to kick in now.

There is about 30 different anti-depressants so dont think you have to stay this way for life, life was not meant to be angry and unhappy okay so please remember that and go see your doctor.

Keep us updated and post how you are doing :)

Thanks for the info. Glad to see your feeling better. My doc wants me to strart out with the half pill also. When do you usually take yours? I was told that if you take it a night before bed it might help with the side effects.

Yeah I felt quite decent this morning but then felt anxious and spaced out again this afternoon and tonight but I know the tablets are still finding their levels so I have to go with the flow.

I usually take mind in the morning but I have heard that a few people take them before they go to sleep but it really depends on you and how it makes you feel.

How are you feeling today?

I had a pretty decent day. Very thankful for that. Hope you get to the point where your whole days are better. I dont look forward to mornings, there the worst for me. Thats probably because I think a lot about the way I feel in the moring. I really need to stop doing that. I think I make myself feel sick, just looking for it. Thats what really makes me realize that everything I go through is most likely do to the anxiety. I'm looking for something, so my mind finds something. Hope that makes sense. Hope you find your peace of mind soon. Just keep taking things one day at a time and you'll get there.

After a week and a half on lexapro, I am beginning to feel less anxious. Thankfully the horrible headaches are gone and don't return. I know it's a little soon to be seeing the total effects of it, but so far I am pleased. Time will tell how I respond in the coming weeks. I hope it is getting to the point where it is helping you all. Your comments have been very helpful and reassuring to me.

I am the same as Lr21 as I have been on mine for about 12 days now and I feel less anxious the last day or two which has made me more relaxed and also optimistic about the future, I think anxiety can make your mind race so much and you can just end up thinking the worst over ever little thing but we can all beat this and must draw strength from the people who already have.

We are going to make it through and become better and stronger people for it I know it.

Seanbigshow, I am glad you are doing better on the lexapro. Hopefully everyone else who has recently started lexapro is starting to feel a little better as we are. It seems like all of the side effects are now gone for me. How is everyone else doing?

Glad to hear you all are feelin better. I have also had a good past couple days. To be honest, I still haven't taken any of my lexapro. Its just hard to take it when your having good days. Dont want to ruin them with bad side effects. If I start feeling bad again im gonna start though. To hear that it's working for you guys gives me hope that it will work for me if I have to start taking it. Cheers to all the good days and prayers for many more to come.

I take Lexapro too, I am up to 15mg a day and tonight I will start 20mg. I take my medication at night, and notice I still sometimes get that nauseated feeling, but it does go away within an hour or so.

When ever I increase the medicine I do feel bad a few days, but then I start feeling better it seems within a few days.

The medicine has really helped me a lot, other than with motivation, I don't know if medication can help you with this, but when I was on Zoloft it seemed like I wanted to accomplish things, not sure if it was coincidental or not.

I am on the generic lexapro and its been about a month and half - I had increased anxiety, nauseous and decreased appetite, also had a weird out of it feeling and a little off balance. All of those symptoms have gone away since after week 3. They tell you to keep goign and give it time...it sucked at first but i told myself to keep goign. I also take Xanax, which helped. Lately I have had increased appetite and have had some issues sleeping. But other then that nothing to bad.

Hey guys and girls,

I am two weeks in on Escitapram and although the last two days I have perhaps felt less anxious to an extent, I still feel really depressed and spaced out, I think a lot of people from what I have read usually feel the effects around 3-4 weeks in so I just have to ride it out.

I feel in a dreamlike state most of the time and I am having trouble even getting out of bed in the morning but I have to keep faith that the tablets will kick in the next week or so. Its mad to think that one day you can feel so crappy and then the next when the tablets kick in, you can just feel uplifted as I recall from my previous dealings with depression.
