Hi everyone. It's been two weeks since my Sertraline was upped from 50mg to 100mg. It may well be a coincidence but the last two weeks have been some of the worst I have experienced.

I am not sleeping well and get heart palpitations as I am trying to settle down. If I do fall asleep it isn't for very long, I end up winding myself up and I start to panic and cry. I get up and go to another room with my iPod and a book and hey presto, within 5 mins the palps are gone and I'm feeling better. My moods are so up and down - I am feeling ok one minute then crying hysterically the next. I have intrusive thoughts worse than ever and more panic episodes.

Is it possible that the doubling of the Sertraline is causing this? I'm not sure what to think. I will see if things improve over the weekend and if they don't, I will call my doctor on Tuesday. I'd say Monday but this Monday coming is a bank holiday.

Hello,

I'm sorry your going through a rough patch with your med increase. Why not just call your Dr tomorrow and let him/her know what's going on. It will ease your mind, especially if it's something as simple as your medicine increase. 4 days is a long time to suffer when you can ease your mind tomorrow.

I too am sorry to hear of this difficulty that you are currently experiencing.:(

I would definitely give your doctor a call and see is he/she thinks that this increase is to blame.

Doubling may have been too big a jump, so your doc may have you dial it back a bit and increase at a slower rate?

I hope that you get the answers, sleep and relief that you need soon!

I was wondering the same thing that S.C. wrote about,-- if perhaps doubling the dose was just a bit too aggressive of an adjustment for your body.

Hang in there, and give your doctor's office a call. I would definitely discuss this with him/her and get their take on the increase. Perhaps a gentler increase would fit your body better? It's worth asking about!

Thanks everyone. I tried on and off to ring my doctor but with it being almost a bank holiday, the line was constantly engaged. I took my double dose as usual yesterday but by the evening, I was a wreck. I have decided to drop back to 50mg as I am certain this is the cause of what's been happening. I will ring the doctors again on Tuesday and hopefully get somewhere. He did say the last time I spoke to him that he was giving me the Sertraline in 50mg doses so that if I had any issues, I could drop back to 50mg.

I am at my mother's house for family time so managed 5 hours sleep uninterrupted. Best sleep I've had all week.

Sounds like a good plan...just make sure to follow up with your doc when you can.:) I hope that you are feeling relief from the increased anxiety soon!

Glad you got some sleep...and hoping that the rest of your weekend is restful/peaceful as well.

Ax, you have made the decision I would have, it was the only
variable and you just nailed it, if by Tuesday you are better, just
call and let him/her know what you have done. Peace

I felt like crap whenever I upped my dose to Sertraline and I think that is normal as the side effects start all over again but they should not last longer than a week or two.

Hope you feel better asap :)
