Celexa anyone?

Hi all,

I just started taking a tiny liquid dose of celexa about two and a half weeks ago for my panic and anxiety disorders. My psychiatrist has me on liquid so I can control and take very small doses..about 3 mg since pills only come in 10mg+ (I reacted terrible to a full dose of Zoloft so were taking it slow!!) anyway, I'm starting to bump up a bit! Haven't had much for side effects...maybe tiredness, dizziness and a few head aches? But again that could just be me :)

I'm hoping it gives me some relief soon from constant panic attacks. Just want my life back. Anyone have any encouraging words about celexa or SSRIs in general for their panic? I know I need to be patient as it can take 6 weeks to notice change! Thanks so much.

hi anxiousgirl13. sounds like you are on the right track. your psychiatrist will be dispensing the best possible treatment for your condition. yes give it some time. i have a weird theory that is only indicative of me. that is i know a medication will have some benefit to me if i get a side effect or effects. when i have had no s/e the medication has not worked. my shrink likes my hypothesis. it is mine though. i can, only for me atest to this as i have been on a truck load of medications. i can list 40 of the top of my head!!! yes i am on a lot now but moreso to do with my heart, diabetes and arthritis. nly 2 pysch meds being taken. i have reduced massively. sorry this is aoout you. meds are definately trial and error and as you increase the medication the theraputic range of the medication starts to absorb into the synapes and does it's stuff. feel better soon. keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Turtle- I have that same weird theory myself. If I get a side effect then I think/it has worked/working!

Anxious girl- I empathize. I've been struggling w/anxiety for about 3.5 months. I've never struggled this long and it doesn't mean you will. I'm just trying to find the right med combination plus deal with issues that I'm also combining meds with cognitive behavioral therapy.

My friend gets good relief w/anxiety with celexa. I hope you will find it too and if not, there are def a whole 'lotta other meds out there to try. One or a combo will be the golden ticket.

(Ps SSRI's helped me a couple of times years ago with anxiety and depression. I take an SNRI now- Cymbalta 60mg).

Thank you both for your replies! I'm on such a low dose of celexa because of my previous reaction to Zoloft. My psych thinks my body and liver don't metabolize that many milligrams of SSRIs. So I'm on liquid for that purpose. I've felt a lift out of it daily, wake up with morning anxiety and I'm tired A LOT. Are these normal anxiety/psych med symptoms? I have suffered from severe anxiety for a year now. It's been rough but I don't give up and I am positive and try to be happy regardless :)

I do hope celexa plus xanax is my magic combo to help me out! Still patiently waiting my celexa to kick in. :) two ish more weeks or less hopefully!!!! Thanks again. I'll keep you posted

Celexa was one of the meds that worked very well for me but due to my age my Dr. felt I should be on a different medication.  I do hope you are able to move your dose up slowly until you are feeling comfortable and able to find your happy place again.
