Stresshead,

Focus on your breathing. Take a couple of dozen belly breaths and just focus your mind on your inhaling and exhaling.

Leave the past in the past and let the future take care of itself. Don't over-think what is going on. Just look around you and see where you are and know you are ok.

I have the same symptoms as you do. Numb arms and legs and strange tingling on the right side of my head. I have sleep apnea, anxiety disorder and spinal stenosis. So my advice to you is get a very complete exam to rule things out. I have had this for two years and really have not received a specific reason why I have these symptoms.

Also check your vitamin D levels this may also be the issue. I too would like some advise from anyone on what to do

Hi Stresshead and Ramses, welcome to the A/P forum!

Yes, getting a check-up to rule out anything physical is always a must, but if your problems are determined to by from anxiety...and an incredible array of symptoms are!...then you can start to focus on treating it.

Self-help techniques with books or websites (see our Anxiety Resource Guide, main page 3rd post) are a good place to start. You can get educated and learn relaxation and breathing skills to help reduce your over-all stress and symptoms.

If you find that you need more help, then therapy is a good option, or possibly talking to your doctor about medication might be the way to go.

Whatever you decide to do for your treatment, stick with us, as we are here to help you along the way and be here as support!:)

Thank you for the reply. This whole thing sometimes is impossible to handle and makes it tough to function normally. I travel for work and it becomes a heavy weight on me to operate normally. I will try some of the self help books. It seems funny that when I keep busy most of the pain goes away. It is just hard to imagine that anxiety can do this.

hi, everybody. i have a similar problem - every morning my legs feel numb, almost paralised. i have to take 2 pills of tramadol, and then in 20 mins i am good to go. it lasts over a 3 years, i have been to every doctor possible, but there is more to it - whole day i feel pain, like goose-bumps-sweats-and-chills pain. tramadol helps some, i take 4 times a day 2 pills, hydrocodone 10 mg helps nice, but i cannot drive or anything so i use it only for a very bad days at night. the MRI showes there nothing phisically wrong with me, none of doctors - reumatologist, neurologist, pain management, PT terapist, chiropractor, acupuncturist - know what is it, and only pile up bunch of meds, i am really at the dead end, so of course my depression worsens, so neither psyciatrist or counselor can help.
if somebody goes though sililar problems lets share knoledge, may be it will at least psycologically help.

People with anxiety, as well as their friends and families, find support groups to be a valuable resource and get confirmation that their feelings are "normal", educate others, or just let off steam.

I am concerned that your Drs. have not been able to find any physical reason for the symptoms you are going through but one of the Drs. is prescribing you with large quanities of pain medications which includes narcotics.

Are you on any other medications for your depressions symptoms ?  Drugs, including alcohol, that depress the nervous system can exaggerate depression.  I have found this to happen to me when I was taking pain medictions for a herniated disc. Have you looked into other ways to deal with the pain through a pain clinic ?

We have a great chronic pain forum as well as a depression forum that you may want to check out.

I wish I had some great input for you as I know you are feeling lost right now. Do feel comfortable starting a thread of your own.

yes my shoulder blades and legs constantly ache my fingers and hands too

i think its from being tense all the time

thanks for your reply,
as far as your questions - no they really did not find the couse. MRI looks normal, whatever else they did is normal, for depression i take nortriptylin 125mg at night. supposedly it helps with some pain, but its hard to say.
i do not take recreational drugs, any, actually, ever, for alcohol - i quit for some reason several years ago. i did not drink a lot, but, y'know, i'm russian))) so may be i miss alcohol)))) but just do not want it.
i have a pain management doc, but he is basically the one giving me drugs. i have gone through some PT, which helped just a little.
and now as you noticed, i am really lost.
i will of course check out other forums, nice talking to you!!!!

Hi , i am also new to this. I had an episode 2 months ago when I woke up in sweat, heart racing and pain everywhere. Eversince then I get pains in my neck shoulders arms hands fingers legs feet. Not at the same time. But in intervals during the day. I also get these dizzy spells and eye flickering. The hand and finger pain is the most persistant. I also was in a car accident last year April, where I injured my neck, can this only cause symptoms now? I am 34 and I always worry about everything. Can this be related to anxiety?

Hi Annie101 and welcome.

Constant worry, dzziness, and racing heart/waking up in a sweat are certainly indicative of anxiety. I have struggled with all of the above from time to time. Breathing and relaxation exercises help with this tremendously (see our Resource Guide for some ideas)

I personally have not experienced pain as a symptom, but everyone is different. Since you have had the accident that involved your neck however, it would be a good idea to consult your doctor or a chiropractor to make sure that it is not related the injury.

so glad 2 read ur posts, i 2 suffer from p/a its so frustrating have been having severe cases atm & its reassuring having this page 2 relate 2, heres hoping 4 a cure 2 end this debilitating disorder.

I also get the numbness/weakness. It's always in my left side. When it first started happening I went through the classic "I have a brain tumor" phase but since it comes and goes and is worse when I'm anxious I know it's anxiety. Anxiety has some scary physical symptoms!

Is anxiety causing these symptoms really? How do I know? What has triggered them?

Hi KN111 and welcome,

The first step is to go be seen by your doctor to rule out any physical origin of the symptoms.

Your doctor will be able to evaluate and give you a dx of anxiety if that is what is causing your issues.

If you do find that anxiety is the underlying condition for you...please feel free to come back and start a new thread of introduction (use the post new topic icon upper left toolbar) for yourself, so that we can welcome and support you here.:)
