So this my third time trying lexapro! What should i do?

I have pure obsessional compulsive disorder and GAD. I been trying different pills but it is hard to find one that works. I took Lexapro for almost a year and it worked , i had panic attacks less than once a month and my ocd was fine, then it just stopped working. I felt to anxious and i decided to not try lexapro anymore. The second time I took it because i thought it could help me and after almost two months it stopped working again. I took the same doze 10 mg. This is my third time and I am taking 5mg I have been able to sleep thanks to this pill! I think my anxiety is getting worse after 1 month and half and i think it is because my fiancé just left. I feel sad and then I get anxious about being sad. I have been thinking maybe lexapro does help me because it takes the edge of the anxiety. It doesn't get rid of ocd but when i feel calm and less anxious my ocd thoughts are not a big deal. Maybe i should just take a higher dose. The side effects are almost nothing. If don't take this the only other two pills that can help me it would be paxil , anafranil or celexa :/? I have tried Zoloft, cymbalta, prozac, effexor, luvox and viibryd.

First off, I am really sorry to hear of your relationship troubles. Interpersonal issues are definitely a trigger for me as well. If this is a beneficial relationship for you that is meant to be...then I wish you the best in a resolution to your current problems.

Now as far as your question about the Lexapro goes...

I can't tell you what you should do...but I can say this:

Your post today shows a marked difference (to me) in comparison to your last few posts. You sound so much calmer and better able to deal with the anxiety/OCD issues than in the past few posts of the recent past...even in spite of the relationship difficulties.

I find this pretty amazing actually, and probably indicative that your Rx is working for you.

What have others close to you said? Do they notice any difference?

Sometimes if you are unsure of how you are doing mood wise, it can be a good idea to ask your loved ones how they think things have been going.

The fact that your med is allowing you to cope and is as you said, taking the edge off of things for you is a good sign. No med can completely eliminate the issues...

...but a combination of coping skills/therapy and your Rx can really cover a lot of territory for you.:)

I hope that this gives you some direction and perhaps some hopeful thinking for your next decision.

Yes ! The only thing I that troubles me is that I feel sad. I feel like i don't want to do stuff or i don't know if it is just my ocd. I am scared of getting sad too, depression ocd.I get a lot of intrusive thoughts about it. Like what if my life this ? and this ? My fiancé didn't leave he is just traveling , i won't see him for two months. But i have felt this way only since my fiancé left, before i was perfect and feeling a lot better with the lexapro. I been taking the pill for like 40 days. So i guess it is not the pill maybe i am sad because my fiancé left. I felt kind of the same sensation last time i tried lexapro, :/. Like sad weird sensation and it made me quit it. The thing is , i t is hard to tell if i am depressed or i am having intrusive thoughts about being depressed or both! Honestly lexapro lets me sleep. I feel like it doesn't let me go on an edge for my panic attacks. Maybe i should give it a try on 20 mg and if i feel sad , I will quit it.
