I think that sometimes our hormones can make our anxiety go off-kilter! I've also noticed that if I'm particularly tired, I get more likely to be anxious or have anxiety break-through.
I can only speak for myself here, but whenever I have a setback, it shakes me up and makes me feel so uncertain about "the next time"! Like, if I wake up anxious today, but get to feeling better as the day passes, then that night, I start worrying about the next morning. Am I going to wake up like THAT again?! So maybe sometimes I become a self-fulfilling "prophecy"! UGH!
But one more thing, extra morning anxiety is actually not all that uncommon! I don't know why it is so, but I've read about it. I've been dealing with GAD for 22 years, so I've had plenty of time to read all kinds of stuff! I used to have extra morning anxiety too!
However, I think that you are doing right to call and check in with your doctor. No harm in that!
Take care!
