Prazosin for PTSD

Hey y'all. On 8/5 I was prescribed Prazosin, which is traditionally used as a HBP med, but is often used 'off label' for treating symptoms from PTSD such as suppressing nightmares or night terrors.

I had to stop on 8/12 because I became grey, lethargic, tired, compounded by relentless headaches.

Two days *after* stopping this drug, my BP was 118/62. I can only imagine where I was during that week.

I'm still feeling weak (but oddly not dizzy), lack of appetite, lethargy, tired but can't sleep worth a hill of beans.

Now I'm not sure if this is related to "schtuff" coming up because of what I'm working through with therapy and knowing in 3 days I'm bringing a pic of my "mother" into my therapist? Or if this is still me recovering from a dangerous blow with severe LBP.

I've been too tired and weak to take a shower for the past 48 hours....I'm sweating with chills. But again, this could be all....oh who knows what.

But I wanted to mention this med in case it's ever suggested for treatment because reportedly it has a rather well-tolerated acceptance rate. (Leave it to me, right?)

As things continue to improve (and they are), I'll be popping on back at regular intervals, but I find that my body's giving out on me without much effort. Thanks for bearing with me.

Hey, lesson learned. But, we never know unless we try, right?

Forgive my spotty appearance, and know for sure that that is only temporary. I could never leave you guys. You'd have to kick me out first! :)

merrida ! we expect your regular appearence to this forum. i don't know what events became with you in your last 3 or 4 days or more but you have more gentle heart except than any other in this forum. god give us various types of feelings in those feelings some time mixed some bad things like toxins in everybody it is COMMON and very OBVIOUS for human. suppose, you found your self more political, but in world everybody do politics and trickky in his or her life thrice or 4 time more than you !

ok you mention prazosin second line treatment of hbp and your blood pressure numbers 118/62 are both normal
nothing to worry about it ! best of luck ! wishing god's cosmic n spiritual energy support you !

Mod 'rule' #1...take care of yourself/health/family first and foremost.

I hope that you can bounce back from this quickly and find something else that will work for you, not against you. Sorry this was a bust...I know it is dissapointing. ;(

...but I am sure that you and your doctor will be able to come up with a plan.

Continued prayers regarding your therapy efforts as well!! You are brave and strong.:)

Thanks guys.

I've spent the past week griping privately to some other Mods because I feel like I got kicked pretty hard. I would imagine the drug is out of my system, but the s/e's are lingering. My BP is all over the place as I try to regain balance.

It's just left me very weak and lethargic,....thus not as active,....thus not as strong,....thus my CP is in overdrive,....and sadly, part of that has been my not being here because I cannot manage to sit for long at the computer.

Bit by bit, I'm bringing myself back.

You all rock!
