Lamictol

Anyone have any experience with Lamictol? I switched from taking it in the morning to taking it at night. I woke up without the nervous feeling which is great but I am slightly nauseous. I hope that will go away in time. I took a ginger root capsule and ate some bread. Any other advice? My doc reduced my Paxil and thinks the Lamictol might help with my anxiety instead.

My daughter was prescribed this for management of Bi-polar 2.

She unfortunately did not give it a full chance and stopped after a short time. (I think this had less to do with side effects than just not wanting to be medicated.)

I do believe that it is a med that needs some time to build, level off in the system...and for the s/e's to phase out.

Consult your doctor if your side effects are unbearable, but otherwise, if you can continue...have faith that you will adjust to your Rx in time.

p.s. this is a fairly strong mood stabilizing med (with a black box warning I believe)...just out of curiousity, does your doctor suspect indications of Bi-polar or a mood disorder?

Just to clarify, you were prescribed Lamictal ? (Lamotrigine)

I have never heard of this being prescribed (solely) for GAD.

Is your prescribing doctor a G.P./family doctor, or do you see a psychiatrist?

I am not a medical professional...so I don't presume to second guess your physician's decision...but if I may, I do recommend doing your research on this med.
