confused hi folks,
got my meds changed ,but one q are expensive medicines better ..my doc seems to like brintellix but had to change to lexapro and xanax ?

sounds very reluctant but did it for me?
hope it helps ..any one taking my combo .

lexapro 5mg ,xanax twice a day (don't know dose yet)

i hope my racy ,poundy heart will get a break and my weepiness will improve ...i am hopeful lets see

If you never have had xanax before it could significantly help you manage your episodes. Just be careful as it can be addicting. Wishing you all the best and that the switch works wonders for you!

Before worrying over any "addiction" component (I always encourage people to please use extreme caution while throwing that word out there because everyone reacts and responds differently to all medications of all sorts)....the key here is following your doctor's directions and being supervised.

If you are being monitored and taking your meds as prescribed, then you will achieve the greatest benefit.

M, I'm terribly sorry as my aim would only be to help and encourage rather than to cause worry as living with GAD is debilitating enough.

It's a known fact that xanax can be addicting. What if I said that from my personal experience it may cause constipation, couldn't that also cause worry? I am a recovering substance abuser (aka drug addict) and unfortunately NOONE cautioned me on any of the substances I was on (not even my doctor). It may have saved me years of heartache if they would have.

One of the things I love about this forum is that we have the freedom to speak freely as long as we abide by the rules of course. And if I asked the board about a certain drug I would expect to get their true and honest experience with it and would certainly want to know about any addiction effects as this is pertinent information to me... That's why we're here in the first place, right? To share our own unique story and to help and encourage each other.

This is wrote with much love... My only intent is to openly share my personal experience with the topics that are posted and if I can help anyone at all, what a nice blessing that would be.

I haven't tried any of these but a few years ago I did get put on Klonopins which are similar to Xanax as I'm told. My doctor prescribed them to me 1mg a day when needed, I cut them into fours (so .25 mg) and only take them when needed. They help a lot when I need them. I can go days without taking one and I like that I can do that because as I was warned by my doctor they do have an addicting quality but don't let that freak you out. The key for me is to only use them when I need them.
Listen to your doctor and follow his/her advice. Stay in touch with them so they (and you) know how you're doing.

Hey Cilly yes I was just on that combo but only taking xanax twice guess I'm afraid but Lexapro seems to be a good medicine no problem with me but it was too expensive so I ask for cheaper meds I went with celexa best wishes

2serious, after trying different medication, I too settled on celexa. The side effects have been minimal for me. It's been around 2 and a half weeks so the verdict is still out to see if helps to manage my anxiety. I have seen a slight improvement but my doctor says it may be 4 to 6 weeks before I feel the full effect.

Just to extend my humble opinion about not taking the xanax solely based on fear alone. Xanax is a wonder drug for a lot of people who face anxiety and has proven to be very beneficial. They talked with their doctor and weighed the risks and benefits. I would hate for anyone to miss out on the benefits of a drug based solely on fear. The right thing to do is talk to your doctor and get educated. I would be totally honest with him and let him know if you have a history with substance abuse or addictive behavior. From there you can make an informed decision and have faith in what your doc says and take the medicine as prescribed.

Seroquel has been great for my insomnia. I take 50 mg before bed and sleep like a baby the whole night. Cilly, let us know how the switcharoo goes and 2serious, keep us posted on how the celexa works for you.

Hi everyone,
I haven't switched yet though medications are sitting here on table,i am very anxious about changing or switching medicines as side effects can vary.

Brintellix seems to be ok but my major problem is either it or my sleeping generic ambien giving me panic attacks which i never had in beginning days.

so doc changed it but panic is secondary for me though its making my living horrid ,depression is major for me.
will keep you updated for sure when i start and how i feel~~

I am sorry that you are dealing with so much currently!

...and that changing your meds is just adding to your worries.

I do hope that you can come to a decision that will make you feel comfortable, and find the right Rx for you...so that you can start to feel better!!
