I am officially hypoglycemic(low blood sugar), and low blood sugar and panicking go hand in hand, in fact people that have low blood sugar can be more likely to suffer with panic attacks. I have a Blood glucose monitor and sometime have to take my blood sugar just so I know whether it is a panic attack or if it is my sugar dropping. I had to quit buying strips(for the time being because I am getting OCD-ish with it and can take my blood sugar sometimes 10 times a day, and I can't afford buying the strips all the time)
If your sugar is dropping the only real way to keep your levels from dropping is to cut most carbs out of your diet, eating several small meals a day can help as long as what you are eating is not filled with carbs, carbs turn to sugar and for those with low blood sugar your sugar will drop after eating something with carbs typically within 2-3 hours, unfortunately high blood sugar also mimics the same feeling of low blood sugar so without monitoring your blood or having your a1c level checked(which I am supposed to do and haven't done yet) you won't really be sure which one it is.
My sugar has been going up recently and they did warn me quite some time ago that if I didn't get my low blood sugar under control my body would use up all my insulin and then I would be a diabetic, so sad to say I believe I am headed that way.
sorry Brenda me coloful today ....weird..anyways I have read few places that ppl who are on ssri develop BS problems in life ,i don't know much as i already have diabetes and i have seen hypoglycemia gives me panic attack, when i don't eat for long periods of time and stay hungry ....i can see connection in such a short interval of time so trying to eat healthy and every 2-3 hrs is my goal.
I hate panic attacks and anxiety ...
