I don't know who told you that you will need meds forever but they are badly misinformed, there are stages of this condition that meds are necessary so that you can live and work, but right here on HW there are many of us who no longer take meds. in my case i carried xanax in my pocket until they turned into powder, i use them as a tool, would you not take insulin if it was needed, your defeating your recovery by the doom and gloom thinking, none of us who have PAD need negative thinking, you have every reason to hope for a complete recovery, the resource that helped me the most was mindfulness, it works! Peace

I thing that too sometimes...why me? I agree with Larry, you do not have to be on an AD the rest of your life. We all have a great chance of recovery. This is a curable disorder, although sometimes it doesn't feel like it. We have to have hope that we will get better, or we won't.
We all have our down days and we are here to lift you back up:) Feel better soon.

I've had the same thoughts, believe me. I'm actually ok with taking an AD for the rest of my life if it works. I'm just prone to anxiety and depression so if something is working, I'm ok letting a sleeping dog lie lol.
It will not always be miserable, I promise. There are seasons of misery until we find what works and there is always a solution. Some solutions are meds (temporary or permanent) in addition to learning coping skills and practicing them daily.
The goal of antidepressants is to get us stable so we can more easily practice the skills we need to, to prevent or lessen our anxiety & depression.
Do you think your medication is working? Are you still anxious on the meds or are you just venting bc you're ticked off at having to take a med daily? Bc if you're not getting relief from your medication and you've been on it 6-8 weeks or more, you can def call your Pdoc and let them know so you could change the dose, medication or add something to it.
I wish you well and stay in touch! Trust me, we have all had the "why me?", at some point or another. You're not alone!
Hugs,
Lisa

Amen sister!! I want to LIVE life. Fear sucks. Anxiety stinks.
I just heard this really interesting message in a self confidence meditation course I'm taking. Anxiety is the shadow of creativity. Turn away from the shadow and into the light, where everything is well and everything's right. Could it be that easy?

I don't think it would be easy but it can be done if you put your mind to it. I guess I should eat my own words huh lol thanks
