Hi family!
Long story short, two days ago I went for a long walk during my lunch break, came back and started feeling bad, chest pain, nausea, dizziness, numbness and tingling etc... I assumed it was a panic attack, so I took .25mg of Klonopin, after 30 min of feeling exactly the same and even vomiting. I was brought to the ER. First EKG showed something new " possible inferior myocardial infarction, possible old" second Ekg said the same, all the blood work came back normal and I mean excellent normal. No heart attack!
After 5 hours connected to the heart monitor and a chest xray I was discharged with the main diagnosis of anxiety.
I'm seeing a Cardiologist on Monday for tachycardia and to be sure that my heart is okay, I know it's more than okay!
My GP thinks that my anxiety could be messing with my heart and he wants to make sure / convince me that I'm fine!
I think I'm losing it!
Reader. Thank you for your time !

Josh
I am going through the exact same thing. I have had very scary chest pain the last 3 or 4 months. I have been to the ER over 20 times (and over 100k in medical bills) and each time, they clear me. I have started taking medication to control my blood pressure and heart rate.
But I have had all the standard tests; echocardiogram, stress test, ekg, cat scans, chest x rays, and blood works all which came back normal. I still wasn't satisfied with the anxiety explanation so I made an appointment with a private cardiologist. He put me on a heart monitor for 24 hours. I am still waiting for the results. If it comes back normal then I will fully accept that I have anxiety and focus solely on treatment.
I am 34. How old are you? Lets keep in touch and keep each other posted on our progress.
God bless!

Cornell,
I'm 32 years old. I don't think that the problem is in my heart, I'm trying to be in denial hahaha!
Stay in touch and God bless.

I am 26 in a similar situation. I have GERD / Acid Reflux and probably suffering from anxiety. I've been to the ER 4 times in the past 6 months. The first time I went to the ER back in February I thought I was dying.
In general I have chest pains, burning and tingling feelings in my chest, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, stomach discomfort, acid taste & burning in my throat, tight throat, sinus inflammation, and sometimes I feel zoned out and dizzy/light headed.
I've had virtually every non invasive test including a heart calcium score and echo-cardiogram which all came back normal.
Logically all the tests show my heart is fine. However I always feel something is wrong like I'm going to have a heart attack. Its weird, I know, especially at 26 to be concerned with your heart and having been an athlete in great shape growing up.
Oh I did I mention I also have carpel tunnel in my left wrist so imagine the scare of waking up in the middle of the night with chest pain, stomach discomfort and your left arm has the pin and needles feeling with burning.

Forgive my ignorance, as I am not a medical professional, but my understanding is that if you were presenting with signs of an infarct, I cannot imagine they'd just dismiss you w/o further recommended follow ups??
Do you have a plan of action to follow through with your doctors?

I would imagine that his ekg showed a possible infarct, but the blood work ruled it out. That along with being connected to a more sophisticated heart monitor for 5 hours.

Folks i had about
the same symptoms you do at about
the same
age, i was 35 i could run 5miles had no pain, i tried to re-enlist
and they gave me an ekg i failed it, i thought they were crazy,
i went to the Cooper Clinic in Dallas and Dr. Cooper tried to kill
me on a tread mill, the findings were the pump works perfect but
the ekg shows an abnormality. Sometime later i decided that i
would run until i dropped and i did, no pain no heart attack, but i
still had the ekg thing. i did have panic and anxiety a horrible fear of death until one day it came to me that i was just rehearsing the day of my death, i was dying every day. After a lot of prayer and thinking i decided that to die once would be enough, i had no intentions of spending the rest of my life practicing my last breath. It didnt happen over night, but in time
and with the use of xanax for a tool to stop the panic i did win.
i am now 72 i still have palps but i realize that the inner pulse that we pay too much attention to is caused by a lot of non leathel things, blood sugar being the main cause, too high or too low. "Practice mindfulness". and i mean practice, it and your Faith will put this evil thief of life out of your life! Peace

Thank you for that post Larry. It felt good to hear that... For me to live another 35 years seems like that's an impossibility due to the way I feel. But if you ft the same way and still going strong it gives me hope that I can kick this and get on with long, healthy life.

Everything appears to be normal- Cardiologist says that my heart has always been like that, since the first EKG done in April.
I am just going to take Larry's advice- I am only going to die once. It is so hard to overcome this fear, if my kids were in their 30's I would probably worry less!

JW.,
It's true...not everyone is a text-book expample when it comes to tests...
I have a couple of wonky levels on my CBC...but they are consistent...and my doctor has told me that it's just how I roll..
(okay, he didn't say that...he said something more doctor-y...but that was the idea.)
Good job on trusting in your cardiologist and managing your anxiety!!
...and yes, parenting isn't for wimps! The responsibility is awesome...but so are the rewards! :)
