Anxiety and blacking out?

Hello Family,

I have been feeling very odd this morning, I just had some blood work done and I blacked out for about 4 seconds, In about 2 min a had a whole team of nurses and doctors checking my vital signs. Everything  was normal after about 10 min.

Was this anxiety related?

Am I Losing my mind?

Hey JW.,

Did you blackout while they were doing the blood draw, or just after?

I always have to lay down because I fainted once...out cold! shocked


It alarmed the phlebotomist, so now I always just ask to be taken to a room with a cot. No sitting in the chairs for me anymore!

This is not unusual...especially if it is a fasting test. Low blood sugar always makes me whoozy.

I hope that you are feeling better now! Lots of H2O, good nutrition and rest for awhile.:)

Your ok, during my time in the Military i saw hundreds of big strong men
faint at shot time, some would pass out standing in line waiting, some during the shot, and some after. Dont let this trouble you it's just a human
thing and many do it. Peace

I think that is normal from just getting blood drawn. Have you ever blacked out before when your blood has been drawn?

I know sometimes I feel like I get anxiety right before I get a shot but I think it is just me being nervous.

I have never had this happened to me before!

After I came back from my little "nap" I was freaking out and super panicky

What did the nurses and doctor say... Like the others said, this can be a normal occurence although obviously quite scary.

I'll piggy-back what ^^Larry^^ wrote! This is another reason women have the babies. God knew this kind of stuff would happen! ;)

It doesn't even have to be a 'regular' thing. It can happen just once or twice,...ever. At random times. For random things. I've seen 'em go down like fallen timber, so you're not alone.

Plus, my guess is that if you had that whole team of docs and nurses at your immediate aid and attention and they felt assured you were well enough to send home, there's a pretty good chance you just had a case of the woozies.

You are going through so much right now. I bet you are overwhelmed about everything and this is your body's response to all the uncertainties that are happening in your life. I feel terrible that you are enduring this. :( I know a lot of us are going through the same thing, so keep your head up, keep shining, and keep looking toward that goal of a healthy, happy moment/hour/day. You're doing great.

Hey Josh!

I have low blood sugar and used to black out all the time. I actually used to think it was normal until one doctor asked if I had ever blacked out because I had done a fast to get blood work done and it showed how low my blood sugar was. I don't have it bad to the point where I need medication but now I know better to keep a sweet tea at my bedside so I have my sugar before I get out of bed in the morning. I wouldn't worry about this at all. It could have been low blood sugar or it could have just been from getting your blood taken.
