Anybody else feel better when out and about?

I was feeling so crappy today but then I talked to one of my bosses who I'm friends with outside of work on the phone for about an hour and a half and it made me feel SO much better. It's like when I'm out and about or with people I don't feel every little uncomfortable feeling and I can be myself again. I am so hoping and praying that going back to work will be the same for me.

It's like sitting in the house alone magnifies the situation. I sit here trying to do my school work and it is just not happening. The toughest times for me or when all is quiet and I have to just sit and be with myself. That probably sounds overly dramatic but it's true. There was once at a restaurant when I almost had a panic attack a couple of weeks ago but usually I feel more myself when I'm out.

I've even noticed that just when I run to the store to get milk or something it makes me feel SO much better. Also helps when the sun is shining. Nothing worse than sitting in this quiet house on a cold gray midwestern day.

The strangest thing is as a mom of three kids I always loved time alone by myself. I never hardly got it so I would just eat it up on the rare occasion that it happened. Now it almost makes my skin crawl sitting here with my TV on in the background so I don't go nuts. Am I the only one like this?

I feel the same. I loved my alone time, and now I don't do much. I am home a big part of the day with a two year old, and it's definitely "different" than it was before this anxious episode. But just a couple months ago, I was super uncomfortable leaving my house at all. I still have some anxiety about leaving, but end up being pretty comfortable when I'm out and about. and I feel really proud of myself when I get home.
I do miss my alone time sooooo much. im sure it will come back in time. I'm just glad I can go to the grocery store and out to eat again:)

The hard part is leaving my house but once I finally do, things seem to go really good :)

The phrase "move your muscles and the mind will follow" is my new motto. Now only if I canlearn to move my muscles!

That is one of the first thing Dr's will tell you is to just get out of the house and get some fresh air to feel better and yes, I usually feel better, not always but usually.

For me being around people just really seems to help. Anytime I can get outside of my own head and body it is a good thing.

I am shooting for that. Being okay being alone. I guess I should feel lucky that I'm usually okay when I'm out. Hope that is the same for me when I go back to work.

I definitely feel a hundred times better when I'm busy. I very rarely get anxious at work or when I'm out of the house doing things. I usually don't even get anxious at home as long as I'm busy. It's usually when I finally sit down or get into bed that my anxiety gets going. But I've come a long way....and you will too. There is hope. I still have rough days but a year ago, I was scared to even drive to work alone. It's definitely a tough road.

I wanted to email you but you don't have one listed. That's cool, I was just wondering if you could go to John409's post & maybe offer him some of your sage support & advice. He's a man with a daughter & he's struggling right now w/anxiety. It'd be so nice if he had another man/father to talk to as none of his guy friends understand anxiety!
