Statins and anxiety?

I decided to go ahead and get on Lipitor for my high cholestrol, maybe I won't have so much fear of strokes and heart attacks now.   Anyway, I have been on it for 5 days now and notice that I have some anxiety and I'm sooooo sleepy during the day. Anyone else notice those symptoms when starting a statin?

I'm sorry Cornell that your having those problems on your meds. My husband is also on a bp pill and he is so horny all the time, wish it was the other way around.

I've been on Lipitor for over a year and the only thing I notice is sore muscles...I do not think it will cause anxiety. You're probably thinking about it because it's a new pill and that is causing you to be anxious, I know that is what I do, then it just goes away....

That's listed as a s/e of statins. Also muscle weakness, muscle pain, joint pain, lethargy...

Ask your doc what option is right for you. They may reduce the dose, change meds, or ask you to give it a little more time.

That was my response to statins as well....had to stop because, for me, I because so symptomatic that I couldn't function and became the equivalent of a jelly slug sliding around the floor....
