Good question...and one that you are wise to get answers for.
It is my understanding that with an SSRI, such a Lex, that yes...the efficacy of the med can be lessened with alcohol. You are also correct that s/e's or breakthrough anxiety is a natural result...as well as the effects of the alcohol on the body possibly increasing...so you can get a double whammy effect....becoming intoxicated quicker, and not having the full benefit of your Rx.
That is not to say that all imbibing is out of the question maybe. (as it would be with a benzodiazapine) Ask your doctor about what it considered okay...especially checking for all interactions with other meds you are taking. (I am not familiar with vyvnase and any reactions.)
