In ER

Hi Dear! I've had it! It's a mean old panic attack! My heart rate was 115 just last week during a panic episode and in reality, that's not all that high. My worst was about 160 and that's the only time I've ever been to the er. I'm glad you got checked out though. It is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to matters of the heart!

Mine was about 4 hours and much Ativan later and they finally sent me home. Have they given you anything for the anxiety?

You will be ok . :) it is scary but they checked you out and everything looks good . Praise God! I've been and still Am where your at right now , my heart rate has been 170 when I checked it and probably even higher during panic attacks , it's a really scary thing to go through but If you remain anxious your pulse will be high if you continue To check it your body will will respond to fear , and one of those response symptoms is elevated heart rate .
The heart rate what you have is not high at all , slightly elevated , I get heart rate like that just being anxious through out the day , even tonight as I was getting ready to go To bed took my pulse and it's at 100 😠 , so hang in there and all I can say please please don't get too worked up about your pulse try to think positive thoughts and try cbt therapy don't get sucked in to this anxiety pit , I did that when I stated to have panic attacks and now its hard for me to function on a daily basis because of my anxiety . and by the way i wish I had a pulse like yours during my panic attacks I SERIOUSLY MEAN that .
Like I mentioned before mine goes way higher . It's a good thing yours it not too high . 👍

Thank you so much. It does hurt my husband can not understand and looks at me like a freak We have been married 21 year and in every other way he is wonderful. But this was horrible and made it worse. I will call my cardiologist like they told me to. Heart rate was still elevated at discharge. I do appreciate everyone that took the time to post to me.

So sorry about your night. :( I've been there too, much like a lot of us on here. Let me tell you though, 114 may seem like a big number to you, but my #'s are much much higher during my anxiety. When I am in the ER, it is usually at 130 just sitting there. If I sit up or move while sitting there, it bolts up to around 140-160. Anxiety is such a tough thing to be diagnosed with, because really there is no "cure-all" for it. But with coping skills and daily relaxation techniques, you can find life to be a lot more "manageable."

As for your hubby, well, hopefully he was just having a bad night. :( Try to have a bit of grace for him in knowing that this situation is hard for him too. I don't think it was right what he did, but he is probably having a hard time dealing. I definitely encourage you to share your feelings with him though and let him know that what he said really hurt you. Don't mention this to him in order to attack him, or make him feel bad, but just so he knows that what you're going through is very real and very tough. Hopefully he has heart enough to say sorry at this point, but even if he doesn't try your best to forgive him anyway.

Went to the doctor/cardiologist today. He said that everything looks ok. that makes me happy but means panic attack...ugh

paxil is not effective on panic attacks. my brother was on it for years and had frequent attacks and went to er many times with racing heart just like you. i would ask dr about switching to zoloft. its execellent for panic. i was on it for 6 years and never once had an attack. taking a benzo is better than an useless trip to the er. good that you respect that they can be addicative but some times you really need them. a severe panic attack counts in my book.

Gizmo, sorry that your husband doesn't understand this disorder but we do and it's no walk in the park. Maybe SC can send him some reads for a spouses who needs educated with this disorder. Once your hubby puts in the time to read these books, they will reveal to him why we anxiety sufferers do what we do.... He will be more empathetic, promise!.

You're talking to a dude(me) who has been to the ER more times that what I care to admit in the last 3 months - probably over 25 times. Gizmo, I know exactly how you feel!!! No fun, huh!

I am almost on a first name basis with all the staff, nurses, and doctors.... Pretty embarrassing actually.

So glad to hear all is well with your heart...

...now to just find what will help best with the anxiety management for you!

I can't remember...are you currently seeing a therapist or doing a self-help program?

If not, I highly recommend doing so for feeling your best!
