Prozac has stolen my sex life.

I haven't taken an AD yet, but my mom tried Prozac and said the exact same thing.

Yes it was a major factor for me getting off Paxil.
And now I'm not wanting to back although I'm not doing as well as I was when I tapered off.
What to do?!

This is more talk-therapy than med-discussion, but just like CP (chronic pain -- of which I am a patient), sometimes we have to make concessions, and not just join in intimacy when we *feel* like it. Yes, sometimes we just have to go along for the ride, and compromise out of love and desire to keep the physical parts of our relationship together.

I'd encourage you to use a lubricant, and don't wait for the "moment to strike"....even if it isn't fulfilling for you in that ultimate way, leaving your hubby out in the cold can distance the relationship.

Plus, ....you may be surprised. Once things get going,.....you never know!

(I use it too, and I say that only so you can understand you're not alone, and sometimes we just need to compromise for the overall and bigger picture of the love that is our marriage).

I'm with Merrida. I had a therapist tell me once that no matter what, I needed to put in the effort even if I wasn't in the mood and that in all likelihood, I would get into it if I just went for it. She was right. I stopped having a great sex drive when panic became a big part of my life, but I've been committed to being more active for my marriage and it really does help!

Blood pressure medication is the worst for lowering sex drive...

I am on Prozac and I feel a lowered sex drive. Mine typically is very high so this is unusual for me. But, if the boyfriend initiates sex, I go for it!

Lexapro did that to me, so I stopped.

I'm on Zoloft now.

Sex doesn't much matter now as I don't see myself finding anyone because I'm me.

Anyway, this isn't abnormal.

What is a sex life? LOL For reals, I quit the dating scene over 5 years ago. My husband passed away 11 years ago, I met a terrific man about a year later and we got really close he helped me deal with my husbands passing alot, and then he suddenly passed away 7 months later. They were both 39 when they passed. I then a few years later met someone on a dating website, I thought things were great but they ended disastrous and I haven't dated since. I hate being alone but don't have the energy to do the dating scene anymore, so I'll probably spend the rest of my life alone.

I have 3 wonderful boys and a 4 year old grandson that I love with all my heart and they are all I need.

Oh ya because of all the meds I'm on, I have no desire to have a sex life.

Well gang, here we go again, as I am on BP meds AND Prozac, (not to mention the hormone depletion med because of breast cancer, so it throws my body into menopause all over again! Yay....) I truly do get it. Honest, I do.

But as everyone here has suggested,...relationships of any kind are a two-way street, a give and take. There are always going to be times when we do things even when we're not in the mood to do them. But if we take a step back and look at the bigger picture, we can view with greater importance, what our values are....
