Klonopin and benadryll/unisom interactions?

Hello evrybody. just have a question..If i take .5 mg of Klonopin in the middle of the day or early morning, would it be ok to take an otc sleep aid at night? Not regularly, but the benzo doesnt help me with sleep on those rough nights. I will ask my doc, but theyre closed over the weekend. Thanks

Agreed...definitely either hold off on this until you can talk to your doctor...or call your local pharmacy and talk with the pharmacist. They are knowledgable about Rx combinations, and can look up the interaction risk for you.

Since these are all of a tranquilizing nature, you should not risk trying the use of them together without advice from a professional.

That's a great idea to ask the pharmacist....they don't close on weekends! Nothing takes the place of info from your doctor, but pharms are very well trained when it comes to meds and potential interactions. Let us know how you make out, okay?

i would think its ok since the klonopin is early and a low dose. just dont exceed 50 mg of benadril. you are wise not to use benzos as a sleep aid. have you tried menantonin? works well for many and less of a hangover next am . do not take klonopin and benadryl at the same time . best ask your pharacist tho but i am pretty shure its ok to take benadryl late pm and klonopin am low dose

The pharmacist is a good idea I need a script refill anyways, so Ill ask them. I figured the early dose wouldn't cause issues with a later sleep aid, I have not tried melatonin, heard of it, I'll look into it. Thanks evryone

Merrida is SO right, what she says about asking a pharmacist. They really DO know a lot more about interactions than most doctors seem to. (IMO) ... I always call Walgreens if I have any doubts about taking a combo with the one drug I do take which is Ativan at night... and they have always been so accommodating, so nice.

So I spoke with the pharmacist and he said benadryll has no interactions with klonopin, just to never take them together about 8 to 10 hours apart. Super dan, have you tried melatonin , what is it like? just curious

I have never taken them together but i use to take xanax during
the day and one over the counter benadryl at bed time, i finally
used the benadryl to quit the xanax worked well. Peace

it works fairly well as a sleep aid but not strong enought if you are having real problems with sleep. the good is its very safe and dosnt interact with lots of different drugs and if its not quite strong enough on its own-you can make your own sleep cocktail. combine it with valarien root and even benadryal. try it on its own first and the starting dose is 3mg but i use 6mg( 12mg is safe limit). the only drug you cant take it with that i know of is oral steroids like prednasone. like i said its not as strong as a perscription sleeping pill but worth trying
