Hello people.. i have been on sertraline since monday and my heart beat is alot faster and get palpatations..went to a nd e last nyt and all seem ok but i still think somethings up :'( i dont want to live like this nemore do i stop tablets or will i be worse?? Thanks and sorry

Dan,

Contact the prescribing physician and express these concerns. Perhaps you could also contact your pharmacy in the meantime.

I agree...since you checked out at A&E...you are certainly alright, and not at risk...

...however, if you feel like your s/e's are more than you can bear, then a talk with your doctor is in order.

I would not stop or make any changes until you can get in for a consultation.

For now, use your relaxation coping skills to help get you through. Do you need me to post some suggestions? Let me know and I will happily do so!

I agree with others, it's always best to ask your dr, since they know the best.
Just don't try to stop using medicine by yourself.

You got things checked and they didn't find anything, right? :) You are fine. Take deep breath, try to calm down if you feel like this again.

Since everything checked out alright, I would speak to your doctor tomorrow before stopping the medication on your own.

Try to calm yourself and think positive thoughts.

Could not tolerate Zoloft which I think is the generic name you mentioned. I was not on it long- notified my dr. and discontinued. who wants to feel worse than they already was?

I hate it too but will change in next few weeks as doc likes this one.

Every day i get pains in my left side of chest and im so so worried its all leading to a heart attack..doctors just say im too young but on internet young ppl have had them..also symtoms are less noticable in women than men :'(.. i just want to stop fearing the worst especially when its nearly christmas..my heart rate is alot faster since been on yhis medication im at doctors today so see what they say again

Dan I am pretty sure you don't have anything wrong. Those things you read on internet, let me tell you, more than half are lies, the other part is very very exceptional cases.
If you had a problem which could lead to a heart attack, drs should see by now during the controls. Rest assured.

As for the medication some side effects (especially the increased anxiety) occurs in first 2 weeks or so, but then they disappear. Then you will start feeling better and better after 3-4 weeks.
In my opinion, It is worth waiting. I am also a sertraline user.

Trust your dr, try not to focus on your chest pain.

I agree with everyone? I have been dealing with Panic and everything that goes along with it for 30 years. Chest,head,arms,legs its all part of the disorder.

Stay positive dont let it take over, there is nothing wrong. Give it several weeks for it to work, but always check with your Dr.

We are always here to help you get through this. It will be fine.

You are fine Dan, but it is better to see your doctor and discuss with him these new symptoms you have so you can be sure there is nothing to worry about. Keep your calm and try not to think about this issue all the time. Focus your attention on different things and keep your brain at work, busy all the time.
