Yes. This is a symptom of a panic attack. Try to sit in a comfortable place (lying down curled up in a fetal position can help too), CLEAR YOUR MIND! Think about breathing. In, out, in, out. Don't think about anything else. Your heart and lungs will not be harmed so don't let that worry you. Think about nothing but breathing. Once you've calmed down, figure out what caused you to panic and try to avoid that situation in the future, also, you need to see a doctor who will teach you ways to control panic attacks. There are medications, but I don't recommend them unless absolutely necessary because they make you tired and make your thinking fuzzy. Small children self soothe by sucking their thumbs or carrying a special blanket, etc. There are similar things adults can do that are not as noticeable. For instance, when I get anxious, I suck on a mint and twirl my hair. Please seek professional help. The longer you go without help, the worse the symptoms can get. I didn't leave my house for over a year. Not good.
