u r correct - l-Lyme disease is caused by a tick bite- more than 1/2 of the people LIKE ME who are diagnosed with Lyme do not remember a tick bite- the deer tick transmits it and is almost impossible to see.....it is a strange bacteria , if caught early it is cleared up by antibiotics.
It is known as "the great Imitator" because it mimicks many other diseases ..MS, anxiety, lupus, als, arthritis, depression...................When you describe tingling and numbness - it screams lyme, it is diagnosed through a blood test , but many conventional doctors are not considered "Lyme literate" in fact I had 5 tell me I was depressed and had anxiety, test me for Lupus, mono etc. etc. my lyme tests came back negative, turned out the labs were not doing sensitive enough testing.........I finally found a doctor who knew about the disease (which has become hyperendemic in the area I live) he said - "oh yeah, that's lyme."
...a 3rd blood test proved it
I ramble , because Lyme sucks- but if you get an early diagnosis and a doc with some knowledge of it - you can cure it. The cdc estimates that for every 1 person diagnosed with lyme 10 go undiagnosed and are often treated for other ailments, allowing the bacteria to fully disseminate into their system....and create long term problems.
I recommend you jump over to the lyme forum and read some of the posts- and ask questions, if for no other reason than to rule it out.
