If I wait too long in between meals to eat, I suddenly start to feel anxiety, shaky almost to sick to eat. I hate it, I'm not diabetic. Like this morning I get up early at 6am, I had maybe three cups of coffee with cream and sugar and then about 9am I suddenly fell like crap, it scares me and I know I need to eat, but I have to choke food down now cause I waited to long.

Is that a normal amount of caffeine for you? I can't drink one cup without getting anxious. I do find that if I do not eat often enough I start to feel a bit lightheaded and anxious. This used to cause panic episodes until I started to manage it more carefully. My doctor said that sometimes thinner people need to eat more often because they have less reserves. Not sure how true that is. I've also read some things online suggesting that an unhealthy gut can cause these issues too.

Have you seen those Snicker Candy Bar tv commercials where the person is acting like a monster.....and then a friend hands em a snickers bar..... Well that's me when I haven't been fedturn


"three cups of coffee with cream and sugar" had to have played a part in this. Crashing from a morning high can and will make many people shaky etc....

I might of had too much coffee with no food, I just ate peanut butter toast, couldn't eat both slices but it seemed to calm me somewhat.. I hate that feeling, it always makes me feel horrible and afraid to leave the couch, I think the low blood sugar or sugar spike causes tons of anxiety for me?

Low blood sugar tends to have the same symptoms as anxiety. And you dont have to be diabetic to experience low blood sugar. It is a natural thing that happens to everyone:)

I'm the same way! If I drink too much coffee and still haven't eaten, I get the shaky, low blood sugar thing too and I'm not diabetic either. Mom is right...that happens to everybody.

Well Deb - here we are again, having the same symptoms to hash out. I find that when I'm NOT thinking about it, I am fine. Yesterday I started feeling jittery and felt that an anxiety attack was on it's way. I made myself eat a cheeseburger (not so healthy I know) from BK because it was the closest place around. I eat small things all morning long - 1/2 banana before I leave the house, 1 cup of decaf coffee, when I reach work I eat a couple of hard boiled eggs then at 10:30 I eat a yogurt or an apple/orange. The point is, in my head I think "if I don't eat frequently I will get shaky and have an anxiety attack".I even have the timing down :-( How crazy am I?! (don't answer that).
Happy weekend - let's just be happy to be alive and enjoy our families. Don't drink so much coffee without eating something!

I have this too. I had to cut out coffee for a long time and for now I can drink 1/2 cup. I almost have an eating disorder because everything I eat or don't eat makes me think it is causing anxiety or some other disease (diabetes, heart disease etc. ) I'm going to see a nutritionist next week and get some help on what and how to eat.

I get shaky when I don't eat and feel weird when I do.
