Hey, everybody. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible...
about
six and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with GAD, MDD, and OCD. I was treated first with Zoloft and then with Lexapro. I experienced success with both of those medications, but I eventually tapered off of the Lexapro this summer because I had been doing well for two years and thought that I would continue to do well without it. I relapsed not long after taking my last dose. I began seeing a psychiatrist, who put me back on Zoloft.
After a few months of increasing to 200 mg, I finally started feeling better toward the end of December. It unfortunately didn't last long. I woke up last Sunday morning, and it was like I had completely changed overnight. The anxiety was back, the obsessive thoughts were back, and I just generally felt down. Now it was nowhere near as bad as it had been during the summer, but the fact that it had returned at all (and so suddenly) was disappointing.
I'm hoping to hear others' thoughts on the whole theory of SSRI "poop-out" (I've always wanted to use that phrase.
). I had been on Zoloft for about
four and a half years before switching to Lexapro, which seems to fall in line with the timing of others who have had a similar thing happen to them. Does anybody here have any experience with this? I'd like to get all of the information that I can before I make any major decisions about
where to go from here, and I've always found it especially helpful to hear from people who have gone through what I'm going through.
I don't know if this is super important or not...but I thought I should also mention that even though both Zoloft and Lexapro worked for me to a certain extent, I found Lexapro to be A LOT better. Thank you all for your help!
