son has been sick and I dont want to get it!

so my little one has been sick with a virus turned into a bacterial infection I think. he's been coughing like crazy so I have been taking airborne trying to fight it off so I don't get it. Does anybody take that? Tonight I feel like tickly cough but I think its from allergies. does anybody have any home remedies to prevent illness? I haven't caught it so far and he's been sick for almost two weeks.
I'm starting to worry because when I get a cough it lingers forever. I don't want to have to take off work I'm trying to save my vacation

If you can find some elderberry syrup with echinacea, that might help ward off a cold. My daughter is getting over strep. I was sure my son would catch it, but I gave him elderberry syrup twice a day and he didn't carch it! May be just dumb luck, but it can't hurt.

yeah I've been giving my son elderberry supplements he's still coughing like a maniac. day 3 of a z pack not convinced its bacterial infection still. Ugh. going on two weeks tomorrow
