Benzos may raise risk of Alzheimers

This could be a serious issue, a friend told me about this and she is off her low dose she took for sleep and I'm off my low dose that I kinda got hooked on after a PA some yrs ago....I take alternative CALMING supps to keep my body and mind calm:

I agree...just about everything can have a risk for something...

For awhile, it was aluminum foil and/or antiperspirants that we were worried about in connection with Alzheimer's...

If we are careful and moderate in the things that we take/use whether it be medications, food, ect...

I think that we can expect to be at low risk for most things we fear.

Those that take their benzodiazepines as their doctors prescribe, in combination with seeking to develop skills through therapy/self help that will allow them to take the least amount of Rx possible for their individual need should be fine.:)

I agree with Rn1987 and SC. Everything has a side effect or some sort of implication at some point. Eat too much of this and it causes this, take too much of this and it causes that. Even doing healthy things can cause problems! Running marathons! Do you know how hard it can be on your body to run a marathon. I have a friend who's run them for years and his doctor has demanded he stop unless he wants to have his hips replaced at a young age.

I get very frustrated when I come on this board and see people slamming Benzos. My Xanax saved me this summer. It broke my cycle of panic, allowed me to conquer agoraphobia and helped me walk away from one of the worst experiences of my life. I do not have an addiction issue, so my doctor is not concerned about the frequency that I take my medication. I personally don't like SSRI's, but I don't post about my opinions on that because I'm supportive of whatever my HW family needs to do to get into recovery. I think that it's unfair to post negative things about meds on here, because it simply scares people who may really rely on those types of meds.

We should all understand that our unique body chemistries make it impossible to tell someone how a drug will impact them, because no one of us is the same.

We are simply here to support each other and remind each other that there are tools out there for recovery. Med recommendations and information should come from doctors and pharmacists.

The report i read was not about prescription meds but it was about over the counter sleep aids and some
antihistamines. it was stated that the research was not conclusive, as others have said everything seems
to have a negative effect on some of us, just not all of us, Peace

Larry, I have NOT taken an anti histimine in going on 20 yrs....Prior to Pycnogenol and Grape Seed Extract I was the allergy sinus queen and took the otc meds and went to allergists, NEVER getting any cure, only more drugs and more docs.....

I have not needed a drug in all these years....these antioxidants have been a salvation in my healing and healing overall. J

WingZ, back in probably 2012 I started on a supplement Anatabloc, anatabine citrate is the ingredient in this supp....it was sold by GNC, Amazon and directly from Star Scientific... It's an inflammation fighter/modulator.

It was pricey but FOR MANY they said it helped them so much and crohns patients too and MS and others....back in Jan-April 2013 I had 4 incredible pain free, clear months and this is after a miserable hip replacement I was dealing with and still do....

This great feeling lasted 4 months and then stopped working for me. Why, I'll never know, but it was helping my daughter too who is challenged with collapsed tendons in her feet/foot. This supp was working on inflammation.

Well, the Star founder got in trouble with the Gov of Va and his wife, you may have seen this in the news.... so the product is gone off the market. MANY are very disappointed with this turn of events the the crap between the gov and johnnie williams....

So the product may be coming back and could be in form of script, I don't know...this would be under reorganization of the company etc etc.... I was just reading some info from the stock message board that the "new" organization is going into new trials....

Anyway, you may want to keep this in mind as you mention crohns. J

PS: Is the 1000IU Vit D3 doing enough for your levels. I take 5-7K D3 and K2 daily to keep my levels optimally. I was very very low in 2006.....
