I give up. Anxiety wins. I don't want to live anymore.

You can beat anxiety and you can make it through and we are here to support you.

Do you see a therapist? If so, I would encourage to give him/her a call and let them know how extreme you're feeling.

If you do not see a therapist, is there a family member or friend that you can talk to?

I promise you, I survived the worst summer/fall of my life, experienced the lowest lows I've ever felt and dealt with anxiety and panic that had once seemed unimaginable. I am still here to tell the tale. I still suffer, but I discovered that it is possible to come out on the other side and make improvements.

Be patient with yourself and with your anxiety. Use your coping tools, take your meds if you're on them and talk to us. We understand and we're here for you.

Like Park said...you have to be patient. It may feel like an on-going battle with anxiety but it's actually more about testing your patience and tolerance level. Educate yourself more about anxiety and what goes on in your mind and body during an anxiety attack. Once you acquire coping techniques and learn how to use them successfully, you will able to control your symptoms better.

Great advice from everyone. I hope you are feeling a little better. I know how frustrating this is and how sometimes it seems like you just can't take anymore. Things will get better, I promise!! This is only temporary and it will pass.

That said, if you are on meds, I would strongly encourage you to contact your doctor NOW. Many AD's have a side effect of suicidal thoughts. Please discuss this with your doc ASAP!

Oh I'm so sorry you feel defeated, but you are NOT. There is always hope and I know you can overcome this, it takes work and some patience but you can do it. In the meantime sending you healing prayers and a {{{HUG}}}! Hope you are feeling better sooner rather then later.

Thanks everyone. I am hanging in here. I am struggling with my hypochondriasis (health anxiety). The doctors keep reassuring me and it's so hard to feel sick when they say you are not. I swear they are missing something. Everyday I feel like its my last day. I feel like they are missing something and the doctors are wrong or they haven't performed the right test. I want more testing. Seems once they rule out one organ those pains/sensations go away and then Im on to the next organ. The symptoms are SO real. I mean VERY real, I get cramping, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, list goes on and on and on. Vision changes, ugh.... it keeps going. They keep telling me to take anxiety meds and see a therapist but I believe in my heart its a illness other than mental :( this is so hard to accept. Its hard to not go and see doctors.

B- I'm right there with you. I'm an RN and have seen almost every doc and the only thing they found was a severely deviated septum and blocked up nose. I'm scheduled for surgery in April with fingers crossed it will take away some of the winter dizziness/head fullness and headaches that have brought on a second year of constant panic attacks. I finally started medication last week. It's dragged me down so low. Don't give up. Try something and see if it helps. Use all these great links. See someone. I live for my therapy appts.

But I hear you when you say you really feel their missing something. I'm actually going to see a naturopath this spring after my nose surgery. She specializes in women's health. Have you thought about that route? I'm also making an appointment for acupuncture and chiropractic evaluation. Why not?

Just some thoughts! I hope you have some relief soon.

Please, please take the advice of your doctors and accept/seek the help that you need to manage your anxiety.

There is help and hope...but you have to reach out and claim it.

Working a therapy program is a great start...please consider it...what do you have to lose?

As I've said sooo many times before on this site....be patient and keep telling yourself (no matter how much you don't believe it) that you are OK, that it's just your health anxiety playing cruel tricks on you. I started with health anxiety at age 7 (thought I had a brain tumor) through a good part of my life (I am now 67 and always been healthy). I never believed anything the doctors told me when they said I was fine, always thinking they were missing something. It's actually YOU who's missing something...that you have an anxiety disorder that's causing you to feel this way, nothing else. I can assure you that you are fine physically but anxiety can lie to you and convince you are dying from something. Keep fighting to get over this feeling and eventually you will succeed. I wish I hadn't wasted so many precious years worrying about something that didn't exist except in my mind. Good luck.

And by the way, yes, all those physical symptoms feel SO real that it's difficult not to believe they're caused by something physical but it doesn't matter how real they feel....they are NOT. It's just amazing how anxiety can do this to us.

BTurc believe me when I tell you your not alone. I suffer from the same thing and now have 40k in medical bills from all the dr. Visits and ER visits with zero to show for it other than a fatty liver. If it gets to bad though and you are feeling that low I suggest reaching out for help. I've been to a mental health facility for my issues and got better for years and now I'm back on the slippery slope and and contemplating going back. Giving up us never the right choice and I know for myself with the constant paranoia of looming illness the only place I feel safe is the hospital with dr's around to monitor me. No matter what the cost nothing is more important than your health and I know right now that I'm back to feeling like I cannot do this on my own or through what I've learned. I wish you success and I want you to know your not alone.

BTurc - please don't think that the anxiety will never go away. We all deal with this on a daily basis, but believe me, there are times when normality works it way back into your life. There is ALWAYS hope and patience plays a big part. I haven't been on this site in quite a while, because I have started feeling somewhat normal again and have been afraid to jinx it. I still have symptoms but manage to tell myself that it is just my head creating them. Listening to Dr. Claire Weeks CD has helped me immensely...and reading the book - Hope and Help for your Nerves has also been a tremendous help. If you can find either of these you might find some help in them. I can remember (only months ago) feeling lost and like I would never again wake up NOT feeling the pangs of anxiety that start up the merry-go-round. Believe it or not, I have not had a real panic attack in about 5 months. I can't say that it will never happen again, but I will keep plugging away - AND THAT IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TOO! So many of us here want to help you - you are never alone. Hugs & please, don't leave us, We NEED you too

I really don't know what I would do without this support group. My anxiety began at age 8 and intensified and spiraled out of control at age 24. I am now 33 and suffer with the thought that they are missing something. It just feels so real and is constant. When I think of anxiety I think episodic in nature. Not chronic - not constant. Because I constantly feel off it makes me believe that they are missing something. I feel better being surrounded by doctors and in a hospital setting being monitored. I feel like I'm doing my body good by being so in tune and staying around the medical scene. But in reality, this can't be healthy - I now have migraines, IBS, acid reflux, GERD, and so many other things due to stress and anxiety. But what if they are missing something - what if all those doctors are wrong. I can't stop the what if's..... this thread of messages has helped me though - I just don't know how long this reassurance will last me. That's the thing with me :(

B, Would you really want something else to be wrong, i'm trying to understand and i am not condemning
you in any fashion, see you can beat this, really you can, we all have gone thru the same thing you are and have, "they have missed something and i am going to die", how long did you say this has been going on? See it's very unlikely that you would just hang in one place with a terminal problem and not get worse! I have been there just like you and so have almost everyone on this forum, in time we get better, have an improved life, and we even get happy. I came home from VN nuttyer than a fruit cake, stayed that way until i was 48, i am now 73 and pretty happy, "i have my days". Every panic attack i had i thought the same thing o crap this is it, one day i realized i bet i have done this several thousand times now and i ain't dead yet. Larry, I know you're not condemning me and I appreciate you taking the time to help. I have been saying this since I was about 8 years old. I am 33 now. I have been really convinced that they missed something since age 23. It's very unlikely, you're so right. Sometimes though I do feel that I'm getting worse. The symptoms are changing and intensifying. Such as the off balance and weird out of the blue sinking sensations I get even when not feeling anxious. But even with this I've never fainted, never been hospitalized, these sensations, symptoms, and feelings have never taken it to the next level of making me worse. Can you relate in this sense?
