Palpititations and Zoloft ?

Hello all..
Feel like I am on the crazy train here.

Started Zoloft 50 mg about 7 weeks ago, upped to 100 mgs in about 2 weeks. I was suppose to take 50 mg for a week and then up to 100, but I got anxious about the increase and had to work up my nerve.
I began to have palpititations shortly there after, which I have been chalking up to anxiety. Mostly my chest gets tight and then my heart contracts. My heart rate and bp are normal. I had a complete cardiac work up a year ago, for anxiety and rapid heart rate and it was all completly normal, my heart does run rapid and I take Propranonlol for that. I spoke with my doc and he increased the propranonlol, as it has a calming effect, and was taking the wait and see approach.
The palpitations have been terrible, especially while laying down at night, which cycles my anxiety. I dont want to go to the ER again for anxiety.
Of course, true to form, I have been doing some research of Zoloft and have read that people do experiance heart palpitations with zoloft, especially at the 100 mg dosage. So I stopped the Zoloft, two days ago to see if they decrease. I know I am suppose to wean off, and I need to talk to my doctor but I dont want to seem even crazier. I d much rather tell him that I read about the effects, stopped the meds and it worked so I can try a different one, then wait for him to get it sorted.

Anyway... Has anyone else had palpititations from Zoloft? Do they go away? Did you stop your meds?

I take Zoloft almost 75 mgs now but Ive been on it for 3 months and it has helped my palpitations rather than cause them, but at the same time I'm sure people have had palpitations as a side effect
I to think that stopping the meds cold turkey is not the best idea and the body might not have time to adjust to the fact that the meds are no longer in the system and that is why some people have withdrawal symptoms , hopefully that won't be the case for you .

Sorry to hear you are having these symptoms I would speak to your doctor about these when you see them next. Unfortunately when starting up on medication it is normal for things to get worse before they start to get better and any side effects experienced usually pass after a couple of weeks.

Stopping cold turkey is not a good idea as you can experience withdrawal effects so this is something I would also chat with your doctor about. There is lots of other options re medications and it's also good to do some therapy such as CBT.

Thank you everyone! I know I have posted before about the pvcs. I am getting desperate, I think. id rather be anxious than have palpitations. At least for now. I am going to see my doctor and tell him that I think that the zoloft may be the reason, I am hoping thats the reason. You all know how anciety brain works...
And see what other meds may be out there. I know Effexor kinda exacerbates my anxiety, feel jittery and unable to focus. So I am open to any suggestions.

I have GAD and OCD.

I do see a GP, who is reallt patient and understanding. Which helps. Although a refferal may be in order.
I will talk to my gp about the medications and a refferal when I see him next.
