I've been dealing with thyroid issues for 5 years now. I had hyper for the first 4, and I have been experiencing hypo symtpoms for the past year. I've been told I have graves disease, and I've also been told that I might have hashimotos.
What tests did they use to diagnose you? If your confused about your number being high, you may be looking at TSH. It's the one thyroid test in which a low number represents hyperthyroidism, and a high number represents hypothyroidism. It's not actually a thyroid hormone though, but it is a good indicator of thyroid function.
As for symptoms, when I was hyper I had a variety of symtpoms, any of which I also have had during my hypo stage. Anxiety has been prevalent through both, hair loss, hot and cold sensations, racing heart, depressoon, fatuige etc. The major difference for me was that during my hyper phase I was ravenously hungry, and had to eat 3k-4k calories a day just keep from losing more than half a pound a week. In my hypo phase I barely eat, feel dizzy often, but and slowly gaining weight despite my efforts to lose it.
The other difference was in the heart rate. During my hyper phase my heart rate was around 115 resting 24/7 for months and months. When I walked around, cooked dinner, swept the floor it would be between 140-180. In my hypo phase my heart does occasionally race, but it's more related to my emotional state, and it not at all consistant.
Thyroid disorders are weird, and the best thing you can do is educate yourself. Many doctors are not well informed about thyroid disorders, and my give bad advive. Find a doctor thag will treat you based on how you feel, not just on your blood test results!
Good luck!
