All, I leave for texas tomorrow night. Taking an 8 PM flight which should be about 3 hours. I. Hate. Flying. Nothing scares me more. Especially flying at night is pushing it even further. What are some suggestions you all have while flying?

Stomach is turning just thinking about it. I'm also going to spend time with my partners family. First time meeting them & having to be socially interacting for 3 days straight with an anxiety disorder is no bueno.

I used to have this fear but I've gotten over it.
I used to take a xannax before bed the night before and take a half an hr. before I got on the plane. I like an aisle seat. I always have a Bloody Mary when the drink cart comes around. :)

i dont mind the plane once its moving but I cant stand to just sit in it..I always take a puzzle book with me a try to do it even though i always mess up it still helps me to focus..

For me, I had to come to terms with not being in control...

...but when you think about it, letting go of control actually frees us.

You could try repeating a mantra such as:

"Everything is likely to be fine...things are not in my control, but that is okay...I can do nothing by worrying...and help myself to feel better by letting go..."

Lots of breathing and distraction also help. Remember...it all starts with the thoughts...so keep them positive.

You are going to do great...from the flight...to winning over your partners family!! ;)

Mama, I hate flying, it's not being in control, it seems insane now but when i was in the Army i went Airborne, yea me, i didnt like jumping either, but i sure loved that 48.00 added to my 68.00 pay check
every month, one day i realized that i had took off in a plane 27 times and never had landed in one. lol
If you are going to have a couple of drinks on board then dont mess with xanax, but either one will do
fine by themselves, I live in Fort Worth welcome to Texas, Peace

I had to endure a 9 hour flight in the midst of severe anxiety. I was nervous but I survived. Music, magazines, books, games, snacks, drinks...anything to keep you occupied.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I see many Bloody Mary's in my future. Perhaps even a whiskey if I'm really feeling down. Trying to rise to the occasion and get pumped to go but anxiety is taking over.
