External pressures are seriously grating

I feel like you've gotten to know me fairly well since I joined the forum last month. Well, it is quite bad that my willingness to go out has gotten to the point where I'm practically scared of doing so. I have to be in the right mood to get the courage to do so, and the right incentive, like getting me quick fresh air walking my dog or walking to the pharmacy.

Anyway, I'm in need of a haircut but one of the things that puts me off is waiting around as it starts my brain going with the doom thoughts, as it were. My sister has just been trying to talk me into going to get it done today but it feels like I'm under pressure to do it. I know she means well but it's exhausting trying to get through the day as it is sometimes.

I don't think it helped my mood today that I woke earlier than I have been and tried to go back to sleep to no avail. Like my body was digging it's heels in and saying no but I wasn't listening. Cue 2 hours of restless laying around.

I just needed to get this off my chest but I didn't want to hurt my family's feelings, because then they might feel guilty.

I too have a hard time getting out to do things. This went on for quite a while for me. I have learned that sometimes I have to force myself to go out, and once I am on my way it is not so bad. It is often nice to be out in the world and around people. I find myself really liking it, once I get out there.

Perhaps your sister doesn't really understand your feelings. People that aren't anxious often have a hard time understanding people who are.

I hope you find some peace and are able to go out.

Also, about the sleeping, once 15 minutes have gone by and i am restless, I just get up and do something, hopefully something that will make me sleepy. Listen to music or read does it for me.

While I haven't been able to go and get my hair cut, I did manage to walk round to the shops and get some chewing gum and a soft drink. Didn't have to rely on music either to drown out unpleasant thoughts, just kept focused on the fact that nothing bad would happen.

Now relaxing with my dog and a DVD.

I relate to this NC! I cancelled a cut and color because I didn't want to do the chit chat for 2 hours. Sounds like you made progress when you went out to the shops. :)

Could someone tell me how to put my meds and issues at the bottom of my post. Thanks! Not very tech savvy.

1) Go to the 'My Profile' page by clicking on the above left toolbar icon.

2) Click on the 'Edit Profile' option you will see there.

3) The last option on the list (after the others such as screen name and password) should be 'Signature'.  You can then input whatever information you want to be in there...and it will save and appear at the end of your posts.:)
