Hi family!!

We are back from our trip and had THE BEST time!!

Ireland is beautiful, filled with wonderful people and amazing sites.  We certainly left a bit of our hearts there!

Of course I missed you all, but kept you in thought and prayers and felt confident that you were in good hands with eachother and Hibee and AngeLisa!

A special thanks to my co-mods and the regular members (John, Larry and others) that helped to support everyone here!

So happy to have you back. Even happier that you had such an awesome time. I've always wanted to visit Ireland. Pictures I've seen are gorgeous, but I'm sure they don't truly do it justice.

Bam,

In answer to your question...

I went with my hubs and daughter, and the family support makes a huge difference.

I don't think I would do nearly as well just on my own, or without someone who knew good traveling procedure and had a good sense of direction, lol! (my husband travels a lot for business and also has an amazing internal compass!)

The two days that my husband left us in Dublin to travel on to another city for business, my daughter and I did venture out...and it was a little stressful...

...but I had my maps, navigated our trips ahead of time, and am shameless in stopping people and asking directions! ;p

One day we logged on more than 8 miles, because we couldn't find the DART station to take us back after we walked to Dublin Zoo. We had decided on walking there...some 3 to 4 miles out, and then taking public transportation back. However, nothing is marked...no street signs...nothing!

So we hoofed it big time that day!

I had almost no anxiety until our last night. I think it was a culmination of being exhausted (we hit the ground running and did not stop!) and anticipating getting up early and getting to the airport, through customs, ect...

It was also some accumulation of self-inflicted, er, 'celebrating'...which I don't normally do on a daily basis!

So...

When you plan your dream trip...

*Go with trusted family/friends who have travel skills

*Get plently of rest

*Don't overly imbibe

...and have faith that everything will be alright. If I can do it, you can too!

I bet Ireland is amazing, I've only scene images and it looks beautiful. I wish I could go on trips like that, but I couldn't handle it in my current state.

Haa haa...we were nowhere near it Larry!

We only visited Castle Dublin and Kilkenny Castle, where I kissed every possible stone...just to be sure, as per your instructions...

Security was called, but our American Embassy is tops...so everthing turned out okay after some questioning. shocked


Just as well, as I hear some of the young local rascals like to use the Blarney Stone as, um...target practice... tongue
