Welcome MRSOST, I'm happy you found us, but sorry to hear your husband is suffering with anxiety and depression. We do care and understand so stick around and we will help as much as we can.
I myself haven't taken Klonapin either but have taken other benzo's and they do help a great deal with anxiety. Your husband is really shooting himself in the foot by not taking them, the doctor gave them to him for a reason and that was to take, so he would have less anxiety and panic attacks. Tell your husband this ....... If he was a diabetic he would take his insulin to stay alive and keep healthy, taking a benzo or an AD is really no different, granted we won't die without them, but it does make us healthier in the long run.
As far as being bi-polar I am also, and if he doesn't take his medication he will never get better, it is really important to take medication when you have depression and/or bi-polar. I fought medication for over 20 years, I would take it and start to feel better, then stopped taking it cause I thought I didn't need it anymore, well I always fell back into depression or became manic. It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I decided I will have to take medication for the rest of my life, I've accepted that and have been faithfully taking my AD's now for 5 years everyday.
I also agree with Hibee, that he needs to get back into therapy, maybe a support group of some kind, I find groups really helpful, cause you see you are not alone in your struggles and there are others like you. It also helps build your support system, there is nothing like having people in your life that understand what you are going thru.
I wish you all the best, please keep posting with us or maybe you can get your husband to join and we can try to help him and give him support.
