This theme has been coming up again and again with my responses lately..
...and Smooth, I know you also touched on this somewhat...
The subject is letting go of things we can't control. Control is an illusion that often sparks our anxiety, as we seek to eliminate unknown variables in our lives that frighten us...
...but the oppsite effect happens when we try to orchestrate things to fit neatly in our comfort zones
Here is an expcerpt from a response I made recently...and I thought maybe we all could benefit, or take something away that helps...
"It's weird how oddly freeing letting go of the control can be isn't it?
...a bit of a scary first step...thinking you are going to free-fall into unknown/frightening territory, but actually it ends ups allowing us much peace, since the heavy burden is taken out of our hands if we just let it.:)
...this is not to say that we abandon all coping skills and resign ourselves to fate...but finding a good balance between working our recovery and not letting the control tendency put us in a cage of our own making is a pretty good goal!"
