Still balance off should I stop my medication?

Hello guys,so I'm on 7weeks of citalopram and I didn't feeling that it helping me I'm only on 10mg. Next monday I will go to my gp abd we go off of citalopram but can I do it earlier? Because I'm feeling it worsening my balance off feling or should I drink it until next week? By the way to S.C I did breathing exercises but after them I get more litlle dizzy dunno why.

That stinks! I've gone off meds before because I couldn't get in earlier to see the MD. If you do wean down slowly. 7.5mg for a few days....5mg....2.5mg. You might want to ask to speak to your GP's nurse before you go off or wean. They may have a good answer or ask the doc and call you back w/ his/her answer. Hang in there. Sorry you're DIZZY! :(

I wouldn't do it earlier unless you call your gp and get consent. Was this step of the taper supposed to be 8 weeks long? If so, I would be hesitant to shorten that.

If the dizziness is a withdrawal symptom, it will stay with you even if you go off the med, and might even get a little worse (since you will be completely off the med). The reason to talk to your gp first is to discuss the best course of action. It's possible the best idea might be to go back up a step to try to remove the dizziness, and then go back to the 10mg and try again.

Good luck and sorry you feel so dizzy. Maybe take some Meclizine, Benedryl or Dramamine... I believe those could help.

To want to be normal and blue cat. My dizziness is not from medication I have it for 2years 24/7 it's not real dizziness it's like walking on a matress or a boat and elevator sensation 24/7 for 2years. I don't know what to do with this it's ruined my life completelly.

Hardlife, it sounds like you might have some sort of neurological condition. Have you been to a neurologist?

Good question BC! I'd definitely call the GP. Maybe, they could fit you in earlier? I'm sorry you're struggling. :(

Going off an Rx without consulting your doctor is never recommended.

Please try to hang there another week until your appointment if you can't get in sooner.

You and your doctor can.talk about the next step at this point also.

In regards to the breathing exercises. ..how about trying some of the other self help methods instead...progressive muscle relaxation, meditation...ect.

I know this is frustrating for you...:(

To blue cat and want to be normal. Yes I was to many doctors like 7different neurologist they can't fing anything wrong. I personally think it's from my a few months of stupid drugs abuse,and it damaged my brain permamently :(

S.C thanks for advice I will try to call my gp tomorrow. I just feeling that I will stuck with this forever,even now I just lay down in my bed and my head get numb..

To Want to be normal. I lost hope in doctors I know they not tell anything new. I don't have any appoinments with neurologist,I just have live with this hell :(

HL,

Just reading through your thread again, and noticed your symptoms this time started when you lay down....

Have you tried exercises for vertigo? (often the issues are exacerbated when the head position changes.) There are videos for these on youtube. This inner ear issue can be fixed!

My second thought...and I can't remember if we already discussed this...but have you consulted a chiropractor? Neck/disc/cervical issues can cause dizziness!

Just a couple more things to consider?

S.C when I lay down my head get numb maybe from my neck,but the off balance sensation subside i feel it when I'm walking. It's not my ears I did a lot off ear vestibular tests and it was good. I tried vestibular exercises but it Didn't helped. They also did Mri of my neck and spine they said it's good. But I still feel some pain in my neck and spine sometimes. So I don't know what to do because it's not real dizziness it's not spinnig it's only awful sensation of elevator or ground shaking all the time :(

Okay...just throwing out more ideas...

If you have neck pain...and nothing showed up on the MRI...

...it could be muscular? Soft tissue problems would not likely be revealed as skeletal problems would.

Chronic tight muscles can cause restricted blood flow to the brain, resulting in dizziness.

Maybe consulting a chiropractor or looking into therapeutic massage and trigger point therapy would be worth it.

Do some research on trigger points in the neck...?

S.C i was yesterday at acupuncture. The woman said that she felt that something is not good with my body. Also my leg and head get so numb when I was lay down. She said maybe my nerves a on pressure or damaged. Also when I trying to stand on one leg my knee or feet start shaking is it normal? Or should I go again for neurologist?

Maybe look into compressed nerve issues...

...and the trigger points/neck alignment issues like I mentioned.

A chiropractor could help with both...have you been to see one yet?

To want to be normal : yeah number 8..it's really frustrating I spended a lot of money with no answer. To S.C my gp will not send me for that he said that I'm completely tested,and he don't have what to suggest only learn how to cope with that. My balance off feeling less today it can be brcause of that I drink 5mg the last two days?

Glad you are feeling better today! Are you planning on staying at the 5 mgs then? Maybe this is the correct and therapeutic level for you?

You could see a chiropractor without a doctor referral, right?

Here in the states you can...you have to pay out of pocket of course...but it might be worth it if the problem persists...

No S.C I will try to come off it. I stoped from today and I feeling verry weird and spaced out,and of course balance off problem again worst today..ughhh..I will have another vacations after2 weeks I really don't want to be like this in my vacation..how long side effects lasts when you come off SSRI after 7weeks of treatment? And yes your'e right it is chiropractor for money also here,I will try to go to them.
