quit my job without notice

I've only been at my job for a total of 2 weeks. I was really excited when I found out I got the job but after a few days I realized the job was not for me. One reason is that I am a student and requested only 15 hours but they are giving me almost double the amount of hours that I could comfortably work, the scheduling was always unorganized and the commute wasn't great. It took an hour by train to get there and when my shift was over I had to pay $30 to take a taxi home because the train is unsafe to take at night.

I'm a people pleaser so each day that I went into work ready to give my two weeks notice, I started to have anxiety and always chickened out. Now it's at the point where I have no cash for a taxi because I haven't been paid yet, and I am not performing well in school because i'm overloaded. The thought of calling in to quit without a two weeks notice gave me a lot of anxiety. I thought about just not showing up but I worried they would call the police to check on me if they didn't hear from me. Since I have only been there two weeks I only have one email which is the general manager's email. I emailed the general manager and apologized and said I needed to resign immediately because of a personal family issue. I then blocked the store's phone number from my phone as well as the manager's email.

Now I'm having a lot of anxiety because I feel bad. What if the general manager doesn't work today and therefore doesn't check his email? What if he isn't good about reading through all of his emails or doesn't check it until later in the day or week?

Some people at my job were rude to me but not everyone was which makes me feel bad that they have to call someone at last minute.

Any advice/related experiences/ comforting words will be appreciated.

I think you outlined some very good reasons not to continue working there. You asked to only work 15 hours and made that aware when you were hired, they chose to ignore that and give you 30 hours. You were scheduled so that you felt unsafe to take the train home at night, and had to pay for a cab. That's a very expensive commute to make. I don't think you'll have to worry about them calling the police to find you, most workplaces will move on business as usual if someone they newly hired doesn't show up. You also sent an email to the general manager, who probably has the email setup with their phone so that they can receive notifications about the business they are in charge of. Managers don't really have days off like that. The important thing for you to do at this point is focus on your schoolwork. You worked there for two weeks so I wouldn't bother putting it on your resume. All in all I wouldn't bother yourself over it. I think you did the right thing.

I agree with all Rxclusion brought up.

I think you gave it a good try, and had good intentions going in...but there was just too many negative aspects of that job to merit you continuing on with them.

I do hope you can find a job with a more suitable schedule, and maybe a closer proximity to where you live...

...something that is easy as far as the hours and the transportation goes.

Your main focus is your education now, and your job should not be a logistical nightmare for you!
