An anxious day...

Hi everyone,

I'm having an anxious day. I woke up and was feeling really sluggish this morning. Then at breakfast time I felt kind of lightheaded and like my whole body was tilting to the left. I'm sure that wasn't happening, but it sure seemed like it was. Now the end of the day is here and I'm short of breath and feel like crying. It's probably because I have the Sunday blues. That overwhelming dread I get, knowing my husband is going to work in the morning and I'll be spending another long day home alone with my son.

I hate Sunday/Monday so much and all I can think about is how anything could go wrong if he leaves me home by myself. I'm also still getting over a nasty cold and I just feel worn out and upset.

Full moon is coming this week too and I know that never helps. I'm not sure what I'm looking for other than to tell someone other than my husband that I'm scared. I know he's sick to death of hearing it.

Hmm....one final thought just popped into my head....my son has been out of preschool with strep and an ear infection for a week. Him picking up these germs got me started worrying about other things he could pick up when he goes back. Those of you who have known me for awhile are aware of my ridiculous fear of the stomach flu...I can't get it out of my head../.

I'm sorry, Stacey. That's sad news.

Anxiety and panic do stink. I did some coloring earlier and that helped me relax, but I'm just so worn down and feel so icky. Plus I haven't been sleeping and that's just one more thing to make me feel uncomfortable.

Sorry about your dad....that's a bad way to start your day....I'm glad you were able to turn it around.

I'm so pooped that even just a walk with my fam sounds awful. Plus the Chicago area is getting chilly, so I think I'll opt for a warm bath and see if that makes me feel better.

I doze off in the bathtub all the time! Just a little bit, but it's so nice!

This anxiety can't hurt you...it has no control over you...observe it, breathe it out, and let is pass.

Try to remind yourself that these random bouts of emotion are likely due from the fluctuating hormones from pregnancy!! Also, when I get like this, I try to think of how things happen in a cycle. When I cry, my breathing becomes uneven, which raises my heart rate, which makes me short of breath, which freaks me out more, which makes me cry harder, which then perpetuates that nasty cycle. Like SC said, you are stronger than this anxiety. It does not have control over you-- you have control over it. I promise this won't last long!

The crying actually ended up being a release. Unfortunately after about 3 hours of feeling badly, I caved and took a Xanax. I don't believe I had any other choice as I had to get my son up from nap and could barely get myself to get up and walk to his room.

Of course now I'm riddled with guilt about the Xanax and the baby. I'm thinking back to Larry telling me his daughter had to take Xanax daily during her pregnancy and everything was just fine.

My husband left work a tiny bit early so he'll be home in about 15 minutes.

This day was so draining, I can't even stand it.

may i suggest getting tested for allergies. it sounds odd but allergies can trigger many anxiety attacks, mainly food allergies, they can be tested with a muscle test from your naturapath.
working out issues from previous days, childhood etc. can change your world, the allergies become less severe meaning less anxiety attacks, simple to write, a little more difficult to act on but most certainly worth it, get your life back.

I have seen you post so many times with fantastic advice for others, please remember how much you have helped others in similar circumstances, and heed your words of wisdom :)

Seems like you are in a bad cycle atm, remember that you have come through this before and will again, that always helped me when I was in a bad way.

Also, do not feel bad about taking the xanax, if it helps you get through, then use it, it is why you have been prescribed it in the first place.

Remember, you will come out of this.

I normally never feel bad taking my Xanax because it's just another tool in my belt, but I am pregnant, so it's best to only take it if times are desperate. My maternal fetal med doctor has assured me that taking it here and there will not harm my baby, but I'm sure you know how crazy we get when worrying about our babies.

All that being said, I am in a bit of a cycle and need to take care of myself too. My son who is almost 3 needs me and yesterday asked me if I was ok, so I know that I need to break out of this, even if it means taking a Xanax here and there to get things back under control.

And as far as meds, pre-pregnancy I took Zoloft along with Xanax and found it to be a good combo. I have been doing pretty well, but seem to be in a funk at the moment.
