Anyone have experience with metapropol?

I have been taking 25mg of Metapropol (Toprol) for many years, originally prescribed for BP and anxiety (pounding heart) but I have heard that some people say that it made them feel like a zombie. I also take Xanax which seems to help, EXCEPT in the morning when I also take the Toprol and that's when I feel the worse, especially if I try and go back to sleep and I get these crazy intrusive thoughts. I'm going to ask my new therapist when I see him in a couple of weeks but I hoped to get your input before that. Guess I'm trying to figure out why my anxiety is so bad in the morning especially, and wonder if I've been on that drug too long. Someone on this site said their doctors took them off it immediately when he heard they were on it but never said why.

Andwes i quit toprol because it make it difficult to do common everyday things, like mow my grass, i would just drag my feet and felt like i couldnt get enough air, its a bata blocker and many people cant tolerate them, i now use an ace, drug
and a calcium channel blocker im really old bp 118/70 most days. Peace
