C-Diff!

Ugh! My poor 3 year old has been diagnosed with c-diff from back to back antibiotics! Turns out he never had stomach flu; it was just the start of the c-diff.

My anxiety is pretty bad. I've heard that this is sooooo hard to treat and soooo contagious! We've bleached everything we can think of, bought all new pajamas, steam cleaned our carpets....I just feel worn out and am scared for him and for myself too.

I'm sorry, this kind of thing is never fun. However, it sounds like you've done all the recommended things and then some! As Accept said, it is a stressful situation but also try to remind yourself, as hard as it is to do, that no amount of worry or fear will improve the situation. Sending hugs your way!

I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. My son has been responding so well to the Flagyl for his c-diff! Then the past couple days he's had a few softer poops so we've been keeping an eye on it.

Well....of course today at his nap he had diarrhea. I'm waiting for a call back from his doctor right now to see if we try and finish this med, or switch to the stronger one. I feel so helpless right now and overwhelmed with stress.

If the metronidazole (Flagyl) is not working, ask the doctor about Vancomycin or Fidaxomicin, both of which have a good response rate.
