I am so tired of this. Every morning I wake up and when I stand or walk around my heartbeat gets faster and faster, then I sit down and take deep breaths and my heart rate slowly slows down. I wore a zio patch heart monitor for two weeks to see if there was anything wrong with my heart and I just turned it in yesterday and the results take about two weeks. The cardiologist doesn't think there is anything wrong with my heart. I just don't get it, as soon as I stand up and walk around in the mornings it just beats faster and faster and I don't feel anxious. I wanted to ask if anyone on here has quit smoking because I really want to quit smoking but am having a hard time, even with these rapid heart beats. I am taking Effexor twice a day and klonopin for anxiety but they're not helping the heart rate go down. I also have type 1 diabetes and am insulin dependent and smoking is especially bad for diabetics. I don't even know why I started smoking. I am having the hardest time quitting. My doctor prescribed Chantix but I can't afford it, so the social work is trying to apply for patient assistance to get it for free. I have tried the gum, lozenges (yuck) and the patch. The patch keeps falling off and none of these have helped me to quit. I also don't think these are panic attacks but maybe they are. I might be in denial. It's just weird every morning I wake up get out of bed and when I stand up and walk around the heart rate gets higher and higher. It read 139 beats per minute yesterday.
Any advice on quitting smoking and if there could be something else besides panic attacks.
Sincerely,
Janet C
