Welcome back but sorry to hear you are struggling.

I have the same compulsion and bite my finger usually when my anxiety is bad. It's important to keep yourself busy to keep your mind of things wether that be watching a movie, listening to music or doing some exercise.

Look up some mindfulness videos on youtube that will help relax you.

Yes Mindfulness is really worth looking into you will find loads of videos on youtube and if you goto our resources thread you will find some useful links to Mindfulness web sights. It takes a while to master but it is well worth the effort and has really good evidence that it work on a range of things not just anxiety.

How've Y'ALL been doing??????? Well I've been just super super SUPER busy with life and that's why I haven't been on here for so long I'm sssssoooooooo sorry really really I am😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

So I've decided to try and stop picking on the 10th of this month but I've found out that it's not really working out once again like I had intended and planned that it would at all😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Now I am finding out whenever I stay busy like right now my niece and nephew are up for 2 weeks I'm not picking as much at all which is really really really really good but now I know as soon as they leave I will start back up all over

We all have our ups and downs, I like to talk to everybody here, because they understand what I'm going through. Try deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and mindfulness meditation, thise are some powerful coping skills.

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling and feeling defeated/sad about your picking habit.:(

Are you especially stressed right now? I know my anxiety compulsions show up when I am under stress, or not able to relax.

Have you tried journaling? Writing down your feelings daily, and tracking your success or struggle with the picking habit can help you to see your progress, and be good motivation!

Have you been able to do some relaxation exercises with any success?

When you catch yourself picking at your skin, you could redirect, and do some breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, meditation or journaling instead.

Do you have someone you can be accountable to? If you like, you can track your progress here, so we can keep you encouraged.:)

You can make progress with this once again...you've done it before! It is a process....keep up the effort, you can do it.:)

I've been gone for ssssoooo long. But I'm back now and gonna start checking in way and I mean wwaayy more I promise

Now I have have a challenge for Y'ALL if Y'ALL choose to except it.

So ok..ok..ok listen now the challenge is to see if all of us can try at least too stop this ugly ugly ugly and I mean absolutely uuggllyy thing that we all let take over are entire body soul and minds.

Now I know I'm probably gonna make a lot of people mad but we all gotta try at least so what Y'ALL say

HLF, i have a friend who constantly wears a rubber band around her wrist she has done this forever, she has several gravitating habits and she is very successful with this simple little trick, every time she catches herself picking, biting, or any other annoying habit she gives herself a good snap with the rubber band, she still has the urge but one snap and she's good for day's, it's a distraction give it a try. Hey, whatever helps you to stop the habit, right?

There are physical reminders and barriers...which you are doing...great job!!

...but also remember to use stress relieving coping skills to help manage the mental aspect (anxiety) which causes the issue.
