Hi SB,
This is not unusual...we have had quite a few members bring this up....
...and yet, there is not a lot of material that I have found when researching it!
It is understandable how exercise could trigger anxiety...after all, the sensations can be similar. Increased heart rate and body temperature, breathlessness, fatigue/muscle weakness...ect.
However, the effects of exercise are good...not scary or harmful...so exercise is only beneficial in the big picture.:)
Starting slow, and gradually increasing the intensity and duration of your workout is a good plan. If you start to get anxious or panic...slow down, but don't stop. Pushing through, and realizing that the exercise won't harm you is the goal...so the association is eventually broken.
I had to do this myself, since exercise is a part of my vocation. It is difficult, but can be done!
Best wishes for getting back in the game.:)
