im not sure how much more i can take im trying so hard to stay positive
but im sooooooo scared
keep getting this really tight feeling in chest and a warm aching feeling around the chest area then ill get a hot flush then the pins a needles come and half my face goes numb and i try so hard not to make it let me panic i try to do something to take my mind of it but i just cant consontrait and start to feel dizzy then start to really think im going to die and am wondering weather to ring a ambulance good job i dont really or id of had a lot of them in the last few months know im convidencing my self its a blocked artery but am pulling myself away from googeling it i mean it could just be giving up smoking heard that causes tight chest or could be the magnisium ive not long started to take why am i all of a sudden back to fearing the worse ive had aches and pains in the future and have never freaked out like i do these days im just really convidenced im going to die really soon

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment I have been having similar symptoms.

Have you ever tried Mindfulness Meditation? It works wonders we have some good links in our resources so take a look.

Hi ICD,

I am sorry to hear you are struggling with the physical symptoms right now. :( I know how difficult this is.

I do encourage you like Hibee said, to practice self help from our Resources...or you favorite material...it will make a difference with time and continued practice.

Great job on resisting the urge to Google symptoms! Keep up the good work...and know your recovery goals are within reach.:)

Tim Tam i was diagnosed with Gad and panic disorder was on fluoxetine but only got to 6 days the side effects where to bad ive managed to stop the panic attacks well saying that re reading what i wrote the other day seems like i was going through one then but feeling alot better last few days it seems like im high for a few days then suddenly go on a low least there seems more high days am feeling more positive today think i just need time to recover from the stress that i let melt me down

Thank you Larry no way was i going to let the panic attacks rule me i had them full on everywhere i went for two weeks i couldnt even sit in my favourite spot without having a attack and i couldnt put food to mouth without having one i lived on protein drinks and locked myself in my room only place i didnt have one i watched all the self help videos and all the meditation videos and went and faced the panic attacks as soon as i sat down in the house in my favourite place whooosh a attack came on but i was ready for it i grabbed my phone and played back a quick meditation i had found one that guided you through the attack once i got through that one i started to go back to everywhere i was afraid of started to look for the panic attacks in stead of fearing them and because the fear was removed they went ;) im sort of just left with a health anxiety which freaks me out now and then, so im going with what you said if i can beat the panic attack :icando: the health anxiety bit too ooooh my positiveness is back ;)

What helped me with anxiety attacks was Lithium for my manic -depression.

I had the panic attacks for years and once I took my first Lithium pill for my manic-depression, I never had another one, and that's been many years ago.

I'm manic-depressive, and with you saying, "I'm on a high for a few days and suddenly go on a low," that makes me wonder if you have manic-depression.

I don't have a clue if you have it or not, but with your going on highs and lows like that, I'm just wondering.

Also, you mentioned stress, saying, "I just need time to recover from the stress that I let melt me down."

Before I took Lithium, I was under a lot of stress. As soon as I took my first Lithium pill, I told someone, "I feel like the air has been let out of a balloon that was about to pop."

Meaning, I was so uptight, and didn't know it, that the Lithium just calmed me down a great deal. It's not like a tranquilizer type of calm, it just a natural calmness.

Lithium is just a natural salt found in the ground.

What do you think?

Im really not sure whats wrong with me ;s ive always had really bad anxiety for as long as i can remember and am such a worrier i think my mind torchers me at times with the horrible images it shows me specialy since i had children and my oldest is nearly 18 and everyday i thought something bad was going to happen to them thats just stuck in my head and i just cant let that go i think i just got used to the way i think so never got help for it i have pretty bad ocd too there are certain things i have to do in a certain order each day or something bad will happen i think i just learnt to live with the way i think so ive never got any help ive never really spoke to anyone about it or a doctor, i only went to the doctor cause i had bad heart burn and had panic attacks i told him i was under stress at the time and had a panic attack in his office im taking tablets for the heart burn which really does seem to help with the health anxiety bit, cause not having any pains at moment / i really just dont even know whats right or wrong i know i have problems was just happy to get rid of the panic attacks the anxiety and ocd i can cope with since i have done for most of my life, i really do like the sound of the Lithium natural i can cope with it dont scare me to much / i can honestly say im scared of everything but really really really try to be positive ;)
and this site really helps me

Lithium is not an Rx that is prescribed for anxiety. Tim Tam has a dx of bi-polar...and therefore is on the appropriate med...

...however, I must stress that we need to get our Rx guidance from our doctors...not other members.

Please do practice the self help from our Resources for now...

...until you and your doctor can come up with an appropriate anxiety management plan.

i have gotten relief from anxiety from lithium tho i dont want to make a practice of it. i was on it for a while and still have some left over. i am also bi polar but go for long periods of no symptoms

That was the point I was trying to make.

While Lithium may relieve bi-polar sufferers who have anxiety...

...it is not common or appropriate practice for this Rx to be prescribed solely for anxiety.

Any black box Rx should be carefully considered, and only recommended by a qualified medical professional.

There is nothing wrong with the med itself...and I wish those using it only the best...

...but since it is not considered an anxiety med, but rather one for bi-polar...discussion of it in this forum must be carefully approached.

thank you scaredy cat am reading through all the self help i can ;)
and all your replies here really do help me if i do find things get worse ill be sure to go to the doctors i dont really want to take any pills if i can help it since im scared of side effects and that on its own hightens my anxiety i got nice little plans and goals going ;)

1. beat panic attacks (ticked)
2. give up smoking (ticked)
3. healthy eating (half ticked lol) got to have the odd few treats hehe
4. tackle the ocd (starting to read up on that one)
5. anxiety (i really doubt im going to ever beat the anxiety part since ive always suffered with it all my life but its something which i can deal with as long as it dont turn back into full blown panic attacks)

after writing all that down it makes me more positive ;) im making progress might have a few slip ups along the way but at least ive found a site here for support so onward and upward to us all ;)

Awesome list of accomplishments and goals!

Journaling progress and seeing it all in writing does really help to keep us encouraged...so keep up the great work! :)
