Weird fear please comment TMI

So today after using the bathroom (both number one and two) I dropped something in the toilet. I immediately stuck my hand in and grabbed it out. I touched some poop and my whole hand was in the toilet. I immediately washed my hands twice with soap and water and drenched them on antibacterial hand sanitizer. I have a few cuts on my hand. One under my fingernail from smashing finger three weeks ago and another small one. I googled and i kept seeing things that said I could get sepsis from having fecal matter on a cut. I am freaking out and my doctor hasn't emailed me back yet!

Then you are absolutely fine!

Of course. ..washing was the way to go, obs!!

...but you won't get anything from your own home toilet...you are safe from your own/family's organisms.;)

Thank you. I just am scared because I read that E. coli can enter your blood stream this way. I am probably just over reacting

I would only be concerned if it was a public toilet. ..

I have cleaned my own bathroom for years...and I don't use gloves.

Did I really just type that? Lol!!!

You will be fine as you washed your hands straight away and as mentioned above it was not a public toilet .

Hi there!

As others have posted before, if you washed your hands you're fine! E. coli naturally lives in our guts and (normally) stays in a happy balance thanks to your natural gut flora. I've touched and been bitten by any number of things more questionable than poop and I've always been fine.

Sepsis, clinically, is more often than not a by-product of prolonged infection and a *severely* impaired immune system or organ failure. You're fine!
