Help! No sex drive due to anxiety? ?

Ive had anxiety for a long time now,but it has gotten worse the past month,doc gave me lexapro which i only took 2 days and gave me xanax which i take only half a pill if i must. Does anxiety and maybe taking xanax make your sex life disappear? I have no sex drive,im 35 married and feel awful that i have no desire for my husband.anyone experience this?

Okay...then it is likely just the anxiety exhausting and overwhelming you atm.

It can really wear you out...dealing with the worries day in and out!

This will be one of those "not everyone is the same."

I have the opposite --- Anxiety and depression will increase my libido. I have taken a Benzodiazepine, off and on, for 13 years and have never noticed it affecting my libido. The only time my libido is affected is due to SSRIs, which I have not used in quite some years.

If I may suggest? See your GYN to rule out any kind of female problem such as a hormone imbalance and ask for suggestions.

Net says one of side effects of Xanax is "decreased libido" and another is "sexual disorder."

Another side effect is "increased libido."

So it sounds like it could be the Xanax, especially if you did not have this decrease before you took the Xanax.

You took Lexapro for two days and stopped? Or that's just when you felt these symptoms?

I've been on Lexapro for about 5 months, though I've changed dosages twice in that time. Started at 5 mg, bumped to 10, and now on 20mg. Haven't had any issues with libido, however a common issue that both the doc and psychiatrist told me about is it "takes a little bit longer to get there." I can say that I have experienced this, though sometimes it's not necessarily a bad thing, but can get annoying.

Regardless, if you were prescribed Lexapro for anxiety and discontinued use after two days, speak to your doc. SSRI's take 4-6 weeks before they actually start helping.

I am at a point in my life where I am happy and content but I still do not have much of a sex drive. I am pretty sure it's my meds.

I know you have a partner so that makes it tough. In my circumstance, I'd rather have a decreased sex drive and be happy and grateful for my life.
