Anxiety hives anyone?

I have been having random hives that will appear on any part of my body since 3 weeks ago. The hives look like swollen red mosquitoes bites that will itch and last for about a week before subsiding. This is my first time having hives. I'm so freaked out thinking it is caused by some serious illness. May I know if anyone with anxiety experience symptoms like this?

Uticaria can indeed be stress induced. My co-moderator here has dealt with this in the past.

What if anything do you practice for anxiety management?

Hi Scaredy Cat, I read a few posts about anxiety/stress induced hives and they tend to go away within the same day. However, in my case, for each episode of hives, they last for about a week before subsiding with the help of antihistamines. I'm really worried that something serious is causing the hives sad

Have/had the same thing. Usually takes a day to go away. Doctor told me to take an antihistamine daily and that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint exactly why hives come about. Stress/anxiety can definitely induce them.

For me I found that taking a Claritin helped.

Mine were mostly my ankles feet and front of my torso.

I have had them here and there...and I want to say they could take up to afew days to completely clear up. I think it has to do with your skin's sensitivity level.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear you are dealing with hives I had problems with them a couple of years ago where I got them daily over a period of 6 months. I went to the doctor and they did some blood tests to rule out anything sinister so that should be your first port of call. As mentioned above it can be hard to pinpoint the cause of hives but anxiety is a likely cause so do all you can to reduce your anxiety levels and see if things improve and continue taking antihistamines.

I eventually pinpointed the cause of my hives and put it down to stopping a medication I was taking called Cymbalta which is an antidepressant.

I hope things improve for you soon as I know how irritating hives are and if you are getting them on a daily basis they can really affect your mood so keep an eye on that.
